That's the best way to do it. Nothing I hate worse than seeing somebody take all that effort to restore something and then not use it for its intended purpose. That's a neat rig you got there

Its amazing what those single stage Cub Cadet snow throwers will do. My '61 Original Had the BB-36 on it at one time as a couple brackets are still with the tractor. Would love to find one someday for it.

Hi Deering Dave! I Have among the Cub Cadets I have, a 102 with an IH QA36 Thower ( did IH buy Danco? ) on it and it was old when I got it and much more now and I have used that for clearing snow for near 40 years it is not pretty but it does the business! it is showing its age, the stones have the auger rolled over a fair bit I welded a bead of 1/4 steel wire at the entire edge of the auger and that has helped but in the end everthing has all the use used up , not sure why IH changed the chute control to that indexed thing I think that cable drive is a better idea over time! may convert back to that? I recently aquired an almost mint QA36A so I hope to have that either set to go on the 102 or the other project that the thrower came with and has the mounting gear for it, a 1650 the engine has oil control issues a 30 over and rings should rectify that heres hoping anyway, I have a 122 for parts, a 100 that has not seen a blade of grass for years and the 1450 that took over from it about ten years ago, I have had the 100 longer than the 102 the 100 was My first Cub, They are as a Consumer product for the most part at the top of that game in the IH era and a decade and a bit perhaps with MTD also as Garden Tractors go and it is to late in the Game to change sides now anyway would rather eat Crow ! I have many memories and some yet to experience some good and otherwise : ) on the Cubs Winter Spring Summer and Fall ! Thanks Dave and Thanks IH ! Cheers! P.S. the Thrower works well as a plow also there are many times it is not nessasary to run the auger!

@rickarmstrong4704 I don't think ih bought Danco, but they sure made alot of attachments for cubs. I was a cub wrench for our local CaseIH dealer, and I noticed a decline in the product after 1985. I like the wire repair ... I might do that when I lose my edge. I don't know where u live... but I keep one with the blower, and one with a blade, as snow consistency varies here.

@@DeeringDave Hello Again Deering Dave! I was thinking that as a possibility as the Danco name was disappeared ! Yes the edge over time gets rolled over the metal could have been a guage heavier but how many have been used for long past the engineered expiry date like 30 or 40 years more probably as I am sure it was used before I got it, it was mostly easy to nest 1/4 solid wire into the rollover clamped with some vice grips and stitched in place and repeat till done, took quite a while and it has improved it the reason I did not could not straighten the auger out was the case is not were it started out at as it left the factory, I had also thought of using a junked grain auger to make a new one ( were to find this item also ) but not sure it is usualy that diameter. one would cut two sections and flip one so they both auger to the center and cutting them correctly would give a tail to tack the thrower bucket portion all in one operation but the diameter has to be correct! Yes also setting up for plow and Thrower is a good idea also I do have one for the 1450 however but I prefer the thrower however there are those times! I live in Aurora Ontario and We do not get winters as I recall from childhood the last one in fact was snow then rain more often than not more salt than average, speaking of, thats why the case is rusted as it salt the primarily culprit and time, Anyway these are very durable Tractors as are the attachments for them, built to attract the Farmers but sold with an eye to the Homeowner perhaps more so! Not sure how the Folks in Buffalo get on with anything in that City or in some places in the Sierra Mountains like Mammoth Mountain! Crazy Stuff! want some entertainment and amazement as to why People do this to themselves? search ( snow clearing mammoth lakes ) it has Buffalo Buffaloed! Cheers!!! Rick

Question. Does ur cub have a pully on the front that turns the snow blower or a PTO clutch?
@DeeringDave
@DeeringDave 2 жыл бұрын
It has a pulley that runs non stop. There is a small idler pulley that engages. The small belt A

There's an idler pulley that engages the small belt with the non stop crank pulley , controlled by rod that goes back to the operator. So, no pto clutch.

Would it be possible to make the augers spin faster with a different pulley ?
@DeeringDave
@DeeringDave 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you would have to change the belt size , and change the goemetry of the pulley engagement.

So these wouldnt work on a 73 model cub? Only belt driven cubs
@DeeringDave

Correct. The clutches are different, and the mount is different.

I have one of those blowers that I used for a while on a 127, clogged frequently in the wet snow and keeping the drive belt tight and not slipping was an issue (no idler/ tensioner came with it), so I began using an old Simplicity for snow duty. This year, after another lake effect dump, I was on youtube and noticed the later simplicity's used a 4 paddle auger. Big difference, here is a link to a short vid I did on it-> kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaHcgnSmd86iZ7s My plan now is to do the mod to the Cadet thrower and adapt it to a foot pedal hydro Bolens (love that foot pedal control). I might try the paddle idea.

@@DeeringDave I went and dragged the blower into the garage, I made the xtra paddles, and I remember those angled (wings) would get snagged into a hardened drift, so I want to put straight tips on each side of the wings to lessen that effect. Rather than make the auger full width- they cheeped out. I have a Wheel horse with those on and I got rid of them- but the horse did have a full width auger. Mike
