Her performance in Vera Drake is astonishing. She is now up there with Streep, Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Dench, Maggie Smith, Tilda Swinton, Juliette Binoche, Emma Thompson, Charlotte Rampling and Cate Blanchett as the greatest female actors working. And soon we will see her as the Queen in The Crown.

Imelda's husband Jim Carter played Carson, the butler, in the popular _Downton Abbey_ TV series. She was Oscar-nominated for the lead in _Vera Drake_ (2004) but lost out to Hilary Swank in _Million Dollar Baby_ (Swank's second Oscar).

Umbridge in the books is foul. Far worse than it is in the films. In my opinion the movie Umbridge has been watered down just because Imelda Staunton is such a lovely person. Not that movie Umbridge was a nice person but the book Umbridge was far from being fully realized on screen. Just my opinion.
