As a Venezuelan living in Venezuela, every time someone blames the sanctions I cringe. They say the same about Venezuela, but if you live here you can see how politicians are filthy rich even if they try to gaslight you into believe they're not. The web of corruption is deep and big. I tell you, politician children driving Ferraris, those “lefties” wearing every name band in existence, their children studying abroad, every single big business in the country links to them. iPhones for all the of them. I'm not denying that sanctions had/have an impact, but that's not the sole reason, it's a great excuse though. And before someone calls me right leaving, pro-US, whatever, I'm not. And those politicians aren't lefties either, they love money just as much as any other politician, they just lie to their population, so they wouldn't want money. Money lining their pockets, and the country rotting, why? Because the sanctions!!!!!!! It's so easy to disregard first-hand experience from someone else when that experience isn't there to feed your own narrative.
@arthas640Ай бұрын
yeah they flatly ignore Cuba's MANY shitty economic policies as well as the fact that even when they were trading with the communist bloc and the third world (combined covering most of the global population) Cuba had an anemic economy. They have all of the same issues as all communist countries, only some countries like China and Vietnam escaped Cuba's fate by opening up their economy while Cuba insisted on remaining a Stalinist state into the 21st century. They only did as well as they did during the Cold War with MASSIVE subsidies from the Soviets who only did so it mess with America. A few economic policies i know of that cripple them include: little privatization, plenty of corruption, zero innovation, being heavily agriculturally focused but mainly on cash crops while importing 90% of their food, and one of the worst being the fact that nearly all their energy is made with gas and oil they import which is literally one of the most expensive ways to power the country which they did because the Soviets just gave them nearly limitless free and cheap oil. Their politics makes it so few people want to trade with them either. They're hostile towards foreign business too which means the only people willing to invest are fellow left wing governments hostile to the west which mainly limits that to China and Venezuela and they have nothing to offer China other then basing rights and Venezuela is laughably poor. People tend to forget that often when the Soviets were doing shady shit around the globe they used Cuban -mercenaries- hired freedom fighters to give them plausible deniability like how Russia uses Wagner today and that lead to a lot of people hating or mistrusting Cuba the same way that people hated the US for doing similar.

There's a lot of factors that go into economic collapse and we're on the precipice here in America, I think this election will put us further over the edge or hopefully we can pull out of it. It's far too complicated for KZbin comments but I think this presidential election cycle is more important than the last one. Hello, I'm a Cuban living in the US. Most of my family still lives in Cuba, and according to my grandparents, the situation is much worse than it was during the "Special Period." Everything is deteriorating, and inflation is currently around 1200%. The exchange rate from pesos (the official currency in Cuba) to US dollars went from 25 pesos to 125 pesos per US dollar officially, but in the black market, it's about 300 pesos per US dollar. There is absolutely no gasoline for public use. Medicine is almost nonexistent, and corruption is at an all-time high. The country has been under martial law for the last three years, with military police and special forces constantly patrolling and cracking down on any gatherings. There is no food in government-owned markets, and when there is, the prices are impossible to afford. For example, the price for 30 eggs is about 3500 pesos, while the minimum wage is 4000 pesos per month, and pensions are 1500 pesos. People in Cuba are experiencing famine, and many are dying.

Cuba is violating the LONANG and therefore is under judgment. Cuba's problems are ultimately spiritual. Read Psalm 107. Violating Commandments I or II results in FAMINE, pestilence, and the sword, per Jeremiah and LONANG. Jer_24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers. Psa 107:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psa 107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; Psa 107:3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. Psa 107:4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Psa 107:5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Psa 107:6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. Psa 107:7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Psa 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa 107:9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psa 107:10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Psa 107:11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Psa 107:12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. Psa 107:13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. Psa 107:14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. Psa 107:15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa 107:16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder. Psa 107:17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Psa 107:18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Psa 107:19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. Psa 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psa 107:21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa 107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing. Psa 107:23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; Psa 107:24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. Psa 107:25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. Psa 107:26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. Psa 107:27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. Psa 107:28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. Psa 107:29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Psa 107:30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Psa 107:31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa 107:32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. Psa 107:33 He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; Psa 107:34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein. Psa 107:35 He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings. Psa 107:36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation; Psa 107:37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. Psa 107:38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease. Psa 107:39 Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow. Psa 107:40 He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. Psa 107:41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock. Psa 107:42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. Psa 107:43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

Ironically, Cuba DID try to diversify during the Cold War...just not in a normal way. Or maybe a very old way. They sent their fairly experienced (and thanks to the Soviets, well-equipped) army to Africa to help various socialist-fraternal allies in the brushfire wars there in the 70's and 80's. The return on Castro's help was the thanks of grateful nations...and a secured supply of oil from Angola, etc. They also received additional support both militarily and economic from the Russians for acting as, essentially, Communist mercenaries during the Cold War.

Companies that do business in cuba are usually prohibited from doing so in the US. A company will choose the US over Cuba Everytime.
@arthas640Ай бұрын
yeah. An easy way to disprove that "its all Americas fault" thing is by just looking at their economy. They're a 21st century undeveloped nation that's traditionally relied on dirt cheap manufactured goods and cash crops for money. Problem is those manufactured goods weren't so cheap after awhile since China is way better at it AND Cuba's energy sector is a joke since it relied on free or nearly free imports from the Soviets to be useful and today is just to expensive to run, plus their grid shows problems stemming from being run by an inept single dictatorship. Growing cash crops meanwhile has only gotten less and less profitable over time since other countries steadily industrialize and modernize increasing supply while Cubans are still pooping in their fields and harvesting stuff by hand, and again that's something they're going up against China with and China has way more arable land and way more slave laborers. Cuba only did as well as it did during a short period of time during the Cold War thanks to massive Soviet support, same reason why the DPRK imploded the second virtually free Soviet oil and fertilizer stopped being handed to them. It's like an incompetent trust fund baby blaming his roommate for being broke after mommy and daddy cut him off just because his roommate wont bail him out.

There's historical precedent to that: theoretically Cuba and Puerto Rico were, for a while, part of the vice-royalty of New Spain. But in practice the whole Spanish Caribbean was an independent viceroyalty is everything but legal titles, just like Central America: the General Captainship of Guatemala was technically subordinated to the viceroy in Mexico City, in practice nobody cared about Cent. Am. or the Caribbean, only the Philippines occupied _some_ space in the viceroys minds. And let's not forget Mexico pardoned the Cuban gov't's debt TWICE in the 20th century, and recently AMLO and now Sheinbaum are gifting millions of barrels of oil per day to Cuba, and technicians of CFE have been sent to Cuba (for free) help them get their electric grid back online. With these precedents, it'd not be out of order for Mexico to just absorb Cuba as the 32nd state. Look out, Central America!!

We had a short stay, but spoke with our AirBnB hosts, fruit vendors, taxi drivers, people on the beach, etc. The people are so lovely, the county is gorgeous, and I hope that things will have a massive turn soon for everyone there. Thanks for a wonderful video. Even though I know the history of Cuba rather well I had not kept up on recent events so I deeply appreciate you bringing this to my, and everyone's, attention.

Cuba's problems are ultimately spiritual. Read Psalm 107. Violating Commandments I or II results in FAMINE, pestilence, and the sword, per Jeremiah and LONANG. @@yelperkelper7248Blackstone's Commentaries on the Laws of England, Book 1, Sec. “2 Of the Nature of Laws in General, ” page 41 states "This law of nature, being co-eval with mankind and dictated by God himself, is of course superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe, in all countries, and at all times: no human laws are of any validity, if contrary to this; and such of them as are valid derive all their force, and all their authority, mediately or immediately, from this original." and in the fourth book which is criminal law, Blackstone said that the highest crime is treason against God while treason against the King was second. In current books on legal analysis on Amazon, they totally ignore God and the LONANG (Laws of Nature and Nature's God). I have read that this is due to the infamous Erie v Tompkins case. Under LONANG if anyone or nation violates Commandments I & II then they will get FAMINE, pestilence and the sword as per Jeremiah 24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers. For example, consider Haiti and Liberia. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIPYhIZmns55r9Esi=GLqiXrwIDep0iRqL which is The Cannibal Warlords of Liberia (Full Documentary) and kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpLWhZZ6qKmZg8ksi=5es86jbGD0HtBngD which is Monkey Meat and the Ebola Outbreak in Liberia which shows a famine of Vitamin K & C. Vitamin K is in any green leafy vegabale and is necessary for clotting of the blood. Vitamin C is in any vegetable and is necessary for protein synthesis, which antibodies are made of. Another violation of LONANG is the CCP deliberately mistranslating the Bible causing the collapse of the Chinese economy. China's real estate and finances are in free fall. I can prove to you if necessary that you believe in God and LONANG. As one example, Job_2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. which I have three examples of. Also, 1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. can be compared to Bloody Mary's burning Christians at the stake then dying of assorted STDs as per Numbers 5:27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

Seeing as it was to be a VVER-440 model, that was probably the best option.. while it didn't have the kaboom problem of a RBMK-1000, the VVER-440 was a much safer design, it (the V-230 model, not the V-213) did have many maintenance heavy modes of failure (leaks & other stuff) that manifested over their years of use that caused the EU to ban their operation in Europe long before their designed lifespan. Should mention that the Cuban plant was supposed to be a VVER-440 V-318 model, which is an improved V-213, so they probably would have been fine for a while as long as Russia kept subsidizing its maintenance. Now if they would have had a CANDU reactor from Canada (like India & Romania did) they would have a safe NPP that would likely still be running today; even if it meant Canadian subsidization.

Because those at the top are unwilling to give up what they’ve created for themselves. In a way, the people are responsible for that, because they’ve sat and watched it happen. Then everyone acting in their self interest, and inter-monitoring, are forced to cooperate or meet wrath of the masses. So for it to actually work, it also needs rapid good transportation that is automated. So it can only exist in scifi currently tbh. And it would require everyone being armed, and with combined access, higher levels of being armed. It would be very difficult to do competitively, but can be done in a futurism scifi situation. (True communism is decentral) I will say the 'fully automated gay luxury space communism' is a cope tho. This wasn't lost on our guides and the workers there, because while the machinery was long out of use it'd still be painted and preserved; along with the placards proudly saying where they were built and by who. One that I recognized was Ingersoll - Rand made in New York State. Part of the museum was a field of train engines what used to ship sugar cane and other goods from across the island into the factory. All these trains were also made in the US, and each was given a sign of when and where it was made. For this area this period was the golden age; since a lot of their towns were built around these factories and nothing but tourism came back to replace it since the sugar market collapsed.

Cuba needs to be integrated into the broader western hemisphere to survive. Especially without the foreign aid that has propped up the regime for decades. Seems like Russia’s death spiral with Ukraine is having some unintended consequences. Though let us all be honest, it was only a matter of time before Cuba fell apart.

When discussing the US’s attitude toward Cuba, it’s also important to remember that Cuba did itself no favors by pumping support into every communist revolutionary movement in Central and South America and Africa that it could. Many would argue that Cuba in fact greatly exaggerated their level of involvement in these civil wars and attempted revolutions against US interests and/or schemes in the region, but US officials certainly took Cuba at their word, whether they actually believed Cuba’s significance or not.

❗ You've GOT to be kidding ! Cuba has been falling apart most of my life and I'm 80. Food and goods so rationed as to be as non-existent as gasoline, electricity, education and employment. Tourism virtually non existent most of my life, visiting available only through the occasional flight out of Canada ! Monies transferred to relatives through a system more secret than a Swiss bank account.

@@dennisweidner288 Cuba's problems are ultimately spiritual.

It's not YT censorship, but rather it's KZbins notification system always having been hot garbage often taking hours or even days to send the notifications. The best way to make sure you're getting notified of your subscribed content is to check your subscriptions page a couple times a day rather than rely on the notification system.

As long as you have like 250 subscribed channels or below everything should pop up in there reliably and immediately, if you're subscribed to like 600 like me, while it often takes a few hours for everything to get on the list, it eventually does and is still better than relying on notifications or your home page.
