"Cringe " and another thing which annoys me greatly in some notorious YT(ubers) who do similar videos, is the lack of spontaneity and (quasi ) scripted feel they end up projecting onto the viewer. It´s so obvious that some of those people just pay some locals a certain amount to have an experience which they then project as this Big adventure ,and like all which is fake, it eventually becomes crystal clear.

@@whereisdan Hi Dan, I had to flee Cuba because the communist regime, with a lack of freedoms, had already suffocated me, and in Cuba when a person begins to openly demonstrate companies against the communist system, there are only two paths: to prison, in the best of scenaries or exile. And now I can return to Cuba because I'll suffer retaliations, besides as a free person I don't want to live in a totalitarian regime.

I am totally into your travel recordings. I see that Cubans all treat you very well, and of course the rum (in some videos) helps with communication and socializing, so I wonder if have you ever felt unsafe or threatened in Cuba (or anywhere else)? It would be so easy to take stuff from you as you always seem to be alone as a European traveler with relatively good resources. My nightmare would be a hot day plus hangover plus walking into the wrong crowd. Keep on doing what you do so extremely well, Dan! And stay safe, and healthy! (any health scares either?)

This bring back so many wonderful memories of visiting my family. I love to see the 2 buckets for cleaning his floors. My Tia and Abuela would do this daily, they would take out all the furniture and since they had polished cement floors they would just pour the soapy water on and mop and then follow with clean water. and mop until dry and move furniture back, this was every morning.

It is very run down! the roads have loads of potholes, there's lots of street dogs and the buildings are falling apart, yet despite this the people are friendly and make the most of what they have! music brings happiness to everyone and brings people together. these people were so welcoming and friendly i wish the best for them in the future. i hope the cuban people are free one day! I started going on summer holidays to Spain when I was 14 and started learning when I was 19 as i made some spanish friends. Went to a language school to improve and then chatted away and kept improving. And to be honest, i did keep it a secret ready for when i went to a spanish speaking country :)

i spend 12 days in Cuba...3 days in Trinidad, 5days in Santiago de Cuba and the rest in Havana,.....i stayed near the Capitolio on calle Amistad......enjoyable, but it was too damned hot.......amazed how you got invovled with the locals
