I had a conversation with Big Pun OFF-AIR in the late 90's (not long before he died) at HOT 97 in NY when I worked there. I brought up Cuban Links name, and asked Pun when Cuban's album was dropping. The look on Pun's face when I mentioned Cuban Links name was priceless!! His face lit up like a proud father (it was touching to see). He went on and on and on about how much he love Cuban like a son (he used those words) and he bragged about how the music was coming out. I could tell Pun really had genuine love for him.

The thing that’s always bothered me about Cuban is that he’s always used his beef with Joe as a crutch for why he didn’t blow. Yeah, I’m sure Joe had something to do with him getting dropped from Atlantic because that’s where Joe was signed & he’s the one who got Cuban the deal there. But What stopped him from shopping a deal from other labels like Universal, Sony, Interscope, Def Jam, Jive etc. you can’t tell me Joe blocked him from gettin deals from those other labels where he had no power or authority. The only reason Cuban got a deal was because of Pun and Joe. Once they both were outta the picture what did he honestly think would happen?
