Cuban Participation in the Nyóró ídèm Ékpè (Ékpè body) dance competition

On a historic Abakuá visit to Calabar at the invitation of Governor Donald Duke of Cross River State, 'Román' Díaz and Vicente Sánchez participate in the International Ékpè Festival, where ídèm Ékpè (or íreme in Cuba) compete for beauty and skill as they are guided from the 'bush' to the high table to greet the title-holders. Traditionally, nyóró took place during the funerary rites of Ékpè leaders.
En una histórica visita de Abakuá a Calabar por invitación del gobernador Donald Duke del estado de Cross River, 'Román' Díaz y Vicente Sánchez participan en el Festival Internacional del Ékpè, donde ídèm Ékpè (o íreme en Cuba) compiten por la belleza y la habilidad cuando son guiado desde el 'monte' a la mesa alta para saludar a las plazas. Tradicionalmente, el nyóró tenía lugar durante los ritos funerarios de los líderes Ékpè.
