Archetypes: Draft Matters and Conspiracy

Today, at viewer request, a brief look at draft matters and conspiracy cards in mtg cubes. This is just an overview, as there are many things to consider, especially when drafting conspiracies.

I once drafted a cube where each person in the pod started with a Cogwork Librarian in front of them. It created some very interesting moments in the draft where someone would end up with 3-4 Librarians and then get to cash them all in at once.

Thank you for this video. Exactly what I wished for. My cube has a Power play as well; but we decided that it only works for the first Game each Match. Otherwise it would lead to very unfair games in some matchups, where the Powerplay Player just could not loose. But i guess this might vary from cube to cube.

I really loved the video though! I've been looking at the conspiracies lately, so it was topical (at least for me). I appreciated the way in which you handled the different aspects of the conspiracies. I'm hesitant to add them straight to the cube because I imagine a newer player would really struggle with some of them. I love the idea of just having some around and shuffling them up for a night, though. Overall, really great video! The thing I really dislike about the Aether Searcher is that it grabs something from hand or library. It seems like there's a number of ways in which picking it would just be a dud. Like when the next card you get isn't worth playing him, or you've already seen and played the card you named. Maybe I'm wrong, but the floor on this guy seems extremely low. Edit: I overlooked the Hidden Agenda Conspiracies at first and I thought they looked awful. But after drafting someone else's cube on Cubetutor, I got to see how a card like Unexpected Potential would work in the draft. Getting it early completely shifted the way the draft played out and makes you consider each card you see as a potential pick. It was great.

No mention of Worldknit at all? It's by far the most popular Conspiracy among my drafters.

Truthfully, it is more about video length, there are a couple more conspiracies I thought about adding, but the video is already nearly 20 minutes. Worldknit is a solid conspiracy though.

My drafters didn't like worldknit as much as sovereign's realm. But I've tried that and Emissary's Ploy. I currently have sovereign's realm, backup plan and Hymn of the wilds

I agree, Sovereign's Realm and Emissary's Ploy are both great!

Any opinion on weight advantage? I like it in cube because there are so many creatures that indecently have high toughness, so it makes a cute little aggro deck maybe in colors you wouldn’t expect.

It is hard to know without a cube list. I think it is cube specific, Are you playing the other cards like it? High Alert or the dragon? If the conspiracy is forcing you to warp your cube around it. Go through your cube, and see how many cards there are for it. How many creatures have higher toughness than power, and are they concentrated in a few colors. If you only have a few targets, or you have 10 targets, but they are spread between all 5 colors then it is probably not worth it.
