I found out the reason from tropes. Mong's name was redubbed as "Mark" in the UK broadcast after there was some controversy about his character. MENCAP complained that the character of Mong makes fun of people who are Mongoloid but given that the show gives its robot characters stereotyped personalities anyway it probably wasn't intentional.
