This was immensely helpful. I grew up pre internet. I had to read the entire manual of my first sampler, an EMU ESX32, a hundred times over to get making beats back in 1992. Also, I love how musical this thing is for such a cheap price tag. Velocity, crazy delay, chromatic tuning, reverse button, distortion with volume... all super intuitive and accessible. And some of the samples are really amazing and complex. I feel there’s still a bunch to learn but with this review and two hours of time I already built some patterns I was really happy with. Also, one really cool retrig "trick" not mentioned here is using it in conjunction with the velocity sensor of the pads. Hold down RETRIG and then softly press and hold one of the T pads. Then, without lifting your finger, increase the pressure on the pad and the volume will increase. Rinse, repeat. For double the fun, press and hold two pads.

A tip of mine for using Cycles or Samples boxes... Don't use velocity at all for volume, instead use velocity to control pan position & turn off any velocity for volume/level controlling it. It's just as easy to apply volume/level edits on these boxes with a parameter lock on steps in a sequence. If you assign velocity to panning position & control. All 6 tracks will have an easy way to pan steps in their sequences for each track. Turn your velocity mod source to pan & depth of it to max +63... Turn down the volume/level depth to 0. Then swing each tracks pan positions to hard left. Now a velocity value of 64 is centre pan. 0 velocity is hard left pan & 127 is hard right. Velocity how I pan things on every track without having to waist a lfo as a panning mod.
@TimesOfTheSines.official3 жыл бұрын
@True Cuckoo thought u may be interested in this tip for using velocity as a panning trick. I use velocity to control pan position now on every track... On both of my Model Cycles & Samples boxes. I prefer to edit trig parameter locks for levels per step using locks via the volume/dist knob. The velocity then can be very effective & more commonly most resourceful to make good at pan position duties... you just have to dial off any velocity to control levels, & if you turn the velocity pan depth to +63. You have to go to the tracks volume & panning page. Then turn the tracks pan position hard left. Now 127 velocity is hard right pan. 0 velocity is hard left & 64 velocity is center pan. Watch your beats go Cuckoo now.
