My 7th grader cousin wrote this about Cuco. Hope he see's it. ​Lo Que Siento The song I picked was Lo que Siento (What I feel). The Song actually grabbed me because the artist (Cuco) has a way of incorporating a spanglish feeling into the soundtrack while still making it feel urban and subtle. The spanish lyrics are hard to understand when you first listen to it and if you don’t speak spanish, but I noticed over time that I started understanding the words to the song as I was listening to it over and over. The spanish lyrics were Cuco’s way of incorporating in his own touch of magic which is what makes it a cuco song. Cuco is cuco because he found one thing that makes Him who he is, which is you can feel his emotions in his music. The first time I listened to Lo que siento was in 2017, I was browsing through Pandora (Yes it was in the pandora days) and I found a random artist. At the time I didn’t even know how to pronounce his name correctly, but I clicked on his profile and listened to Lo que Siento. I instantly fell in love, The song itself made me feel a weird Nostalgic feeling. I only like songs that make me feel a certain way, I have songs that make me feel upset, Songs that make me feel sad and so on. Cuco has a song on every one of my playlists, to me that is what makes him special to me. The lyrics are more complex, specific lyrics can sound like one thing but end up being misunderstood for their true usage. My favorite lyric line in the song is ​'Cause mi sueño no se ha hecho una realidad Pero el tiempo dirá, el tiempo dirá (Translation: Cause my dream has not come true but time will tell, time will tell.). To me it is the most meaningful line because in a way it reminds me of a pick-up line but more like a love type line, not a cheesy one. The lyric to me is like He’s chasing after this girl he likes and he’s saying he knows they both like each other and that time and fate will eventually bring them together, so she might as well be with him. The song is just Cuco talking to a girl who’s on the edge about being with him, and he’s trying to convince her that he is ready to be with her the rest of his life. The song is a dreamy type of beat making it perfect for cucos soft and trippy voice. The best part of the song for me is the last minute. The last minute of the song is a trumpet solo which ties the whole song together, making it perfect. It has a way of making me feel sad and that weird love type feeling at the same time, He makes the song his own. The lyrics are more of just a rhyme and repetition but the lyrics are so trippy you don’t even really care, It makes this sad but bubbly feeling and hits you right in the feels. The song has a small nursery rhyme that continues throughout the song (Dreaming of you when I’m alone, Baby don’t trip I’m coming home. Kick it with me I don’t care if the sun is gone). The rhyme is an excellent source of repetition and it makes for a good hook. The song also includes a dreamy type of beat and the lyrics make you imagine a love type of setting which entices you to close your eyes while listening, Almost like it hypnotizes you. The lines in spanish are actually supporting the english lines by providing a rhyming, so the spanish lines aren’t there just because. You can tell an artist is talented like cuco just from listening to how the lyrics are pieced together, Cuco just adds in his own twist to make his songs, his.

Una vez le dedique está canción a una chica la cual realmente me gustaba (o al menos eso sentía ya que era la primera vez en años que me pasaba esto) pero a pesar de que me dijera que era una de las cosas más dulces que le habían hecho realmente solo lo decía porque solo me quería de amigo pero no tenía la capacidad de decírmelo. Y así le gaste 2 años enteros dónde estuve a nada de empezar a simpearle a tope, hasta que finalmente la cuarentena termino (o al menos en mi país) y dejamos de hablar tan seguido por estar en colegios distintos, al pasar como de 2 semanas me entero de que empezó a salir con un amigo mío el cual tambien llevaba un tiempo gustandole (1 año antes de que yo empezará a sentir algo por ella creo) y a pesar de que me doliera el haber desperdiciado tanto por ella, de haberle dedicado canciones, hacer poemas (bastante sencillos pero era lo mejor que podía hacer) y hasta tocar una canción, ya veía venir todo y pude dejar todo eso atrás. Si leíste todo hasta el final toma está historia como una enseñanza, no le dediques algo a alguien que no quiere algo contigo, vean las señales y retirense antes de seguir intentando algo imposible.

I was going through a tough time, feeling depressed, my friends turning their backs on me and wanting to end it all yet she was always there for me, always made me smile and laugh and made me feel good.
