Cuddly Toys 'Madman' video. Cuddly Toys found a bootleg tape of an unreleased David Bowie & Marc Bolan half-written song (from around the time of the 'Marc' TV show) - and made it their own! From the album 'Guillotine Theatre'. The CD/DVD has this and 5 other video promo clips, plus video messages to their Japanese fan-club and Guillotine Theatre live at the Music Machine filmed on Super 8 - all now found on KZbin at this channel.
Cuddly Toys - Sean Purcell, Faebhean Kwest, Tony Baggett & Paddy Phield - had previously been glam-shock-punk band 'Raped' 1977-79:- • Raped 'Normal' - 1977 ...
Following the 'Guillotine Theatre' album a new line-up made the 'Trials & Crosses' album.

Saraamber Floyd....Oh really?....It was in no way shape or form a "massive number one hit" in the UK..It didn't even make the charts. And what was the point?...That singer desperately wants to be Bowie and the band wants to be the New York Dolls...well Bowie and the Dolls were already doing their stuff at this time...this singer was not even fit to lace Bowie's shoes...this is a very very sad and pale version of something already out there so why do it?? Bowie had more talent and charisma in his little finger nail than this fraud had in his entire body...I just hate fake manufactured copy bands The singer even tries to look like Ziggy Stardust who did it 10 years earlier

Thomas Andersen Well Bowie was just doing Andy Warhol and the New York Dolls were just doing the Stones :). And both were doing shite at this point. This song was written by Bowie/Bolan. There original stuff around this time was kind of cool.

wow..this is creepy... the blonde guitarist is totally DAVID JOHANSEN ( NY DOLLS) and the frontman is vintage PINUPS BOWIE and the 2 are doing everything in their power to copy them. I don't know whether to like them or despise them for that! I will say I do miss GLAM of the early 70s, especially with all the garbage we here nowadays that passes as music.

Would have been nice if they had a go at the other unreleased song from the demo tape Standing Next To You. The song was performed on Marc but time and studio unions finished the collaberation after a run through and a shortened take, after Marc Bolan fell off the stage.

I knew a guy who had a full clean rehearsal version of Standing Next You. He worked as a sound engineer for Granada Television at the time. I had the pleasure of hearing the finished version in full in 78 but then soon after loss contact with him. A brilliant song that would most definitely been a huge hit if released. Would love to know what happened to that recording!!!!

It was never completed by Marc & David. It didn't even get into the studio. It was definitely part of a plan to be part of a project that Marc & David had ideas of. Bolan had started to put down ideas for a rock musical. Sadly Mad Man was not completed. Good job by the cuddly toys though.

I heard once, though it may be a rumour that Marc Bolan gave a tape of Madman to Sean Purcell personally The other way he could have heard it was that on the morning Marc Bolan died, his house was broken into and tapes amongst many other things were stolen. These tapes have been heavily bootlegged ever since.

@@junglerecords I looked up the value of about 4 of the singles and thought.... I can't be arsed trying to sell 50 singles on ebay one at a time. Little did I know, that yellow label import would be worth £75 ... I think all the other records where all either T-rex or had some connection to Marc Bolan.

I just discovered this band..but beofre see and listen to them I read they were punk band and they start recpording at 80 to 82(MORE SYNTH WAY). but this effort is totally glam pop rock..nothing to do with punk or synth pop...anyway his voice and way of singing is mega close to David bowie...and the song is writen by him(bowie)...anyway is still far from bowies greatness

I hate to be the anti-christ here, but Cuddly Toys (and Jobriath) were the finest examples of the lowest depths Glam Rock reached by mid 70s.There is a reason neither Bowie or Bolan released this song, and that would be because it just is not that good a song. Those outfits they're wearing in this promo video look like Slade hand me-downs.With regards to Glam Rock - on a scale of 1 to 10, Bowie & Bolan were a 15 - while Cuddly Toys, at best, were a 3. Sorry, but....
