It works on my UB450 and UB820 just by pressing STOP, then TOP MENU twice on the remote on everything apart from Kino Lorber and Shout Selects. Have you tried Kino Lorber?

I know, on some Panasonic players. Just close the tray with the number button that corresponds with the region code 1=A 2=B and so on instead of close tray and the discs work perfectly.

I have the DP-UB820. In the manual it states under Region Management Information: The unit can play back BD-Video/DVD-Video discs of the following region codes, including “ALL”. As an example it gives BD-Video with the “A” symbol and DVD with the “1” symbol. It cannot play PAL format.

It's a blue ray , he said that at the start when he is explaining he has two players. It's the blu ray disc on the 4k player. Majority of 4k films are region free wherever bought.

It's nice to always get nice people to try and help with region locks but expectations should always be low. These hacks or workarounds depend on the firmware version you are on and many will update their players. Also, newer encoders of disks know of the hacks and plug them up. This is why many mention criteria and arrow as greater success over shout factory and others. So thanks, but hopefully, you're not branded. Click bate as the workaround works but mostly on older firmware or older disks.

Pauly I think you have Panasonic remotes mixed up. The last remote you showed (small one) is for the 820 & big one is for region free Panasonic. But I guess it doesn't matter as there both the same manfacturer.

Yeah I tend to use the big remote for my 820. The good thing with Panasonic is their remotes work on pretty much most other Panny machines.

Ok Paulie, this is very misleading and not entirely accurate. The only region A discs I am able to play are from Arrow and Criterion. You only have to press stop and then Top Menu once or twice. I also have a ub820 but not with the remote you have. Nothing else will play as any button press is forbidden. I have tried your method (posted by someone else) on Scream/Shout Factory and Vinegar Syndrome and it doesn't work. The Last Starfighter works in both methods so you need to try other discs (not Arrow or Criterion) and then do a follow up video. Cheers. Gaz.

I have the Panasonic DP-UB9000 that has custom firmware on it and I just use the remote to change all DVD and Blu-Ray Regions to whatever I want/need

I had my 820 sent away to get chipped and now use remote to select what region works a treat well happy had it done. Play any blu ray from anywere in world and also the very rare 4k locked discs (people under the staires) it also plays that.

i have a Panasonic DP-UB450 and doesn't work. I don't know how long this hack has been around but I recently updated the firmware because the 4K of Once upon a time in the west had problems during playback so maybe Panasonic changed something that hack doesn't work anymore.

I don't get it! If you have imported the 4k version of a movie. Why would you care about the 1080p blu ray? Most blu rays that are released in America tend to get released in Germany, which is region B anyway.

If you’ve only bought Region A blu-rays they won’t play on your Region B locked 4k player. This eliminates the restrictions so you can play those locked discs.

I bought a region 1 player and imported discs from America. I had 250 dvds before they were available in the uk. Surely that was superb dvd sensibility?

I've wondered that myself. I had a UB-9000 for a little over 4 and a half years with zero issues then when I discovered that region workaround, my player started developing issues a couple months later. Had to eventually scrap it and buy the UB-820 but maybe it was just a coincidence, I don't know....

Awesome, my Panny DMP700 has a mod chip and I just press a combination of buttons to change regions but both my Panny UB900 and UB820 are region locked B machines
