Hi Lou, thank you so much for such a detailed video. I have this oven since December of last year. I got it mainly for its steam function. I loved it because I can just throw a frozen BBQ port bun in there and I will have a soft and fluffy bun in about 20 minutes. It probably takes the same amount of time if I put it on the stove, but I don't have to bother with using a pot, and boiling water and cleaning that pot, lid and steam strainer afterward. Unfortunately, after 6 months (with minimal usage), the steam function stop working. It was not that it didn't have steam, it was steam everywhere outside but not inside the oven. My countertop ended up with a pool of steam water. I called Cuisinart and they immediately told me to return it without asking me questions. They said this is a discontinued item and they will refund me after they receive my oven, though didn't say how much they will refund me. As much as I liked this oven, I hesitate of getting the Cuisinart again once I get my refund. My question to you is, do you have another recommendation you can give me that is in the $300 range? I only saw your other review on the F. Blumlein JU2500, which I think might be a good fit. Which one do you like more? The Cuisinart or this one? Or is that a better one that I do not know of? I mainly use it to steam veggie and frozen buns and make toast. Thanks!

Hi Lizzie, I’m so sorry your Cuisinart steam oven took a hike😢. Yeah, also, it is sad that Cuisinart discontinued the steam oven. I hope Cuisinart will rectify your return in good faith. As to my other recommendation, please allow me a day to research to get the best deal or bang for your buck. I don’t want to provide a quick answer without knowing about the product. You work too hard for your money without me taking the time to do research. I may find time this late evening or by tomorrow to have best recommendation. If, you found what your looking for please share so I may not continue my research. I appreciate your patience. 😎

@@LouRao Hi Lou, thank you for your quick response! No, take your time to think this one over. I really appreciate your input. I imagine it will be a couple of weeks before I will hear back from Cuisinart since the oven still enroute back to them as we speak. I won't buy anything until I know how much refund I will get back. Thanks again!

@@lizziepoon4468 First, allow me to apologize for my latest getting back. I wanted to be sure what I’m recommending is best fit for your situation 🤗. That said, I found and research two stream oven products I think you may be interested. 1.Panasonic HomeChef 7-in-1 👍 From the few (budget friendly) brands I found may replaced the Cuisinart. The Panasonic would be my first picked. Yes, you were thinking on a smaller price scale, but this would be a good investment if there is room for your budget. I’m not into reviews (many fakes) but considering the reviews are good. I like the brand, the small size (not too small), plenty of function presents, and solid construction. Yes, it’s at a high price point, but lower than what is available for most folks to afford. Again, this would be my first choice. Fact, after researching, I may consider doing a review on this oven when the time is right. As soon as I am well enough and back on my feet to produce more videos, I will definitely consider this product for a review. Note: no other steam oven will replaced Cuisinart counter top oven with it’s beautiful dial system. Most countertop steam ovens navigation function isn’t as good as the Cuisinart 😢. Geek Chef Air Fryer Toaster Oven, 50-in-1 Steam Countertop Convection Oven 👌 The Geek Chef Is another good value steam oven. Geek Chef has a lot of good features, small counter size but big enough to cook large poultry and other food items. Tons of cooking presets.I like the fact it has a double layer glass door (safety). Geek Chef is American brand and products designed here in the USA, New Jersey. All of Ceek Chef’s products is take on many big brands, Ninja, Cuisinart, KitchenAid, etc… but at a lower price point. This would be my second runner up if not for the Panasonic. About Geek Chef: geekchefkitchen.com/blogs/新闻/geek-chef-story I couldn’t find this model for a KZbin review. But, here is a KZbin video for another type of countertop oven model made by Geek Chef. This will give you an idea about Geek Chef products. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHPHeYSsZ8iZgc0 (Amazon) www.amazon.com/dp/B09SP3RMKX/?coliid=I2ADG21773B1J0&colid=24N2KJZ4FSDCA&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it (Walmart) www.walmart.com/ip/Geek-Chef-Steam-Air-Fryer-Toast-Oven-Combo-26-QT-Steam-Convection-Oven-Countertop-50-Cooking-Presets-Suit-for-6-Slice-Toast-12-Pizza-Black/229119060 I hope this has been helpful. It wasn’t easy to pin point a recommendation since many brands are far more expensive and few steam ovens to choose from. I have and use on a daily basis Anova steam oven and it is something I would not recommend due to it’s countertop size “LARGE.” If I had to go back to a smaller countertop steam oven it will be the Panasonic. Yes, Geek Chef has lots of presets and more then Panasonic, but I like to keep things simple. So, please don’t hesitate for any additional questions. I will do my best getting back. Have an awesome day. Stay safe 😎

Why are there virtually no videos of this thing cooking anything?
@LouRao
@LouRao 7 ай бұрын
Good question 👍. There are some, although a few years old. About four years ago, the Cuisinart steam oven was somewhat popular but has since faded. Cuisinart no longer carries this steam oven. Amazon or only a few online retailers may have them. However, if it breaks, there are no replacements from Cuisinart under the one-year warranty, with the exception of store credit to purchase something else. Thank you for taking your valuable time watching my video. Have an awesome week and stay safe😎

Which setting good for basque cheesecake?
@LouRao
@LouRao 2 жыл бұрын
Mandy, Great question👍. Although I haven’t baked a basque cheesecake with the Cuisinart steam oven, my recommendation is 400F (convection bake setting). I wouldn’t recommend steam setting. Just the bake setting should be sufficient for baking. Steam may result in a mushy cheesecake. Once all ingredients has been mixed in a bowl and combined into a batter, pour batter into prepared pan. Placed the into preheated Cuisinart oven (lowest rack side) and bake cheesecake until deeply golden brown on top, but it is still very jiggly in the center. Bake for around 60-65 minutes. Highly recommend to check cheesecake when nearly done, around 45 -50 minutes. Use a toothpick by placing it in center of cheesecake. If it comes out clean, cheesecake is ready to be removed from oven. If not, bake for the remaining recommended time, 60 - 65 minutes. With the bake convection settings, it shouldn’t take the whole 60 - 65 minutes, but check it to be sure so not to over bake. I this helps. Please don’t hesitate for any additional help. I will do my best to respond. If you like, let us know how your basque cheesecake turns out. Thank you for taking your valuable time out to watch my video. Have an awesome day and stay safe 😎

great video Lou, thank you, some questions, what is the lowest temperature setting ? and have you ever compared the accuracy of the oven with your meater ? I'm wondering how this would go with low and slow (maybe 130F) sous vide with high humidity steam, kia ora from Aotearoa
@LouRao
@LouRao 3 жыл бұрын
Don, Great question! The lowest setting is 100F. For accuracy? Well, that is a different story. I do believe you’re aware any countertop ovens don’t maintain temperature well with the exception for Anova Precision Oven: anovaculinary.com/anova-precision-oven/?ab=true I have the Anova oven and it is the only countertop oven I am aware of for temperature accuracy. For the Cuisinart, I can’t say if it would be good enough for sous vide -never tried. The idea behind sous vide is the humidity environment which I am sure you’re experienced cooking in this fashion. If not, Anova website has good amount of details relating to this subject. For the Cuisinart, there is no way to control the steam (steam settings.) Therefore, can’t control the humidity inside the cavity of the oven. So, personally, I wouldn’t recommend it for this type of cooking. But, because I haven’t tried it, doesn’t mean it can’t can be done. As far as a present steaming countertop oven, it is awesome (for basic baking & cooking.) Oops! Almost forgot to answer temperature using the Meater. It is pretty good. As long I keep the door closed during cooking time the temperature maintains a good accuracy. Oven may be off by 4-7 degrees. Less hotspots from side to side of the cavity. I hope to answer some of your questions. And sorry for replying late. Dealing with family member with colon cancer. Otherwise, I will do my best getting back if you need additional info. Thank you for your comments and taking the time out to watch my video. Have an awesome day and stay safe! 🤓

@@LouRao thank you for your comprehensive reply Lou, sorry to hear you're dealing with cancer in you whanau, my wife and my parents have passed and two had cancer, this dam disease is in every whanau, Kia Kaha and stay strong Your great reply confirms what I thought, the Anova is probably the combi oven I'll get because it controls the cook by measuring dry and wet bulb temperatures accurately to maintain set humidity. The Cuisinart only approximates humidity by measuring dry bulb temperature. It's good that you've found temperature is fairly stable using the meater but it's humidity I'm most interested in for accurate sous vide low and slow followed by high temperature crisping. Many thanks again Lou. Kia Ora from Aotearoa 🙂

@@DonW1953 Don, I’m sorry for the lost of your wife and parents -I couldn’t imagine. Yeah, this damn disease is unforgivable. I truly appreciate the sharing. Absolutely! Anova oven will be suitable for your needs. As noted from previous comments, you definitely know what you’re looking for and understand humidity concepts. Although,I will warn you Anova is a pain to setup on Xfinity home wifi (latest model.) Only works with 2.4. It will not work with the latest Xfinity Wi-Fi router. I ended with a Google router as an extension to the Xfinity and Anova is online. Not just Anova, but other companies haven’t updated many of their devices to work with the new Xfinity router, Anova is one of them. Once Anova is on the Wi-Fi you are home free cooking/baking/sous vide in one of the best countertop convection steam ovens! I had to wait for batches to arrive before Anova shipped my oven (3 months.) Seems at this time they have a supply and free shipping. About 6 months ago I had to pay for shipping. Also, Anova steam is not the same as the Cuisinart or any other steam oven. With the Cuisinart a ranged of steam can been seen during cooking time. After cooking the Cuisinart cavity is total soak of excess water and moisture build up. Anova oven doesn’t perform in the same matter as the Cuisinart. Hi Lou, Great Video. I like that you make longer videos and keep it simple I am looking into getting a convection oven and seen your other videos. Do you think the steam will cause the oven to malfunction sooner. If you could say what is your personal favorite so far. This Cuisinart or a Ninja Foodi.
@LouRao
@LouRao 3 жыл бұрын
Great question! Wow, this is difficult to answer. I loved them both. If I had to choose, the Cuisinart. One reason why I will choose the Cuisinart over the Ninja, steam function. Steam cooking is so much better, food comes out amazing. I will soon be posting another steam oven video review, hopefully before Thanksgiving. But, don’t get me wrong, the Ninja is an awesome oven if not better than any other countertop convection oven I tested so far. I just so happen to love steaming my food lately. Check out this new steam oven by Anova. Anova came out with a brand new steam oven, “Anova Precision Oven.” anovaculinary.com/anova-precision-oven/ Also, soon to do a review on the Anova Precision Oven, just received it. This steam oven is also amazing. I have tested it and ready for a review. But, it is expensive -for sure. No, I don’t think the steam will have any type of involvement with the oven to malfunction. Europe has used steam ovens for years, it wasn’t until recently limited brands entering the US market. New to the US home consumers and old to the rest of the world. Yeah, this is not what your looking for which is understandable, tough question. If you can, wait till my other steam oven reviews are available. If not, go with the Ninja for its cooking size and cooking convection is outstanding. I say the Ninja for two reasons, large cavity and cooks food evenly on two rack levels at the same time. So, I recommend for you the Ninja for those two reasons. Thank you for your valuable time watching my videos and your comments. Please don’t hesitate to ask me for any additional assistances. I will do my best getting back. Otherwise, have an awesome evening and stay safe my friend! -Lou

@@LouRao Great report Lou. 1) Where do you live so I can 'borrow' your new Anova oven? I promise to return it :( That link on Anova is SO impressive, but $600 is more than a typical kitchen stove! 2) When I bake bread I throw ice cubes on the bottom of the oven after I put the bread in, do you think this would work or water in a cup to help with the Ninja? I agree about the size, and the Anova looks smaller than the Crusinart :( I hope Ninja comes out with a steam unit, competition drives the prices down over time. Thanks
@LouRao
@LouRao 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomclok3320 Tom, no! No! The Anova oven sent back, I returned the damn thing. With all the great features the oven lack quality. My biggest concern was the oven function buttons don’t turn off, on 24/7 as long the oven is plugged. I already have a safety concern if children are near the oven since the function controls don’t turn off. Also, to have 100% independent control over the heating elements and steam function is Anova app requirements. This also means the app does not allow the oven temperature to go over 210 (unless my unit was damaged again.) Meaning, baking mode with steam, I’m limited to the a low temperature settings. This oven is more design for those looking into doing sous vide. Let me add, the app recipes are a hit and miss, depending who uploaded them. Not all recipes have a good amount of stars. This is my second Anova oven. First Anova oven was return and this was a replacement. Besides the function button not turning off, remaining water links in between the class door with this replacement. The water tank cover is hard to fit because the tank is damaged. Customer service is ok. But, getting hold of customer service can take days. True with emails too! So, yes this $600 oven went back. I will wait for the next generation model. Baking bread with ice in the Ninja is something I would highly recommend. Either a small pan of distilled water or ice is fine. A countertop oven almost has the same components as a standard kitchen oven, no reason can’t use ice or water to steam bread. A spray water bottle is just as good. I hope this feedback helped. I didn’t want to come across being negative with Anova products, but it was a nightmare experience dealing with all the issues with this oven and Anova customer service I had gone through. I hope the next gen will be a positive experience. Thank you for your comments and taking the valuable time to watch my videos. Have an awesome day and stay safe! -Lou

No, they paid the return.😳 Only if you knew what it took to get them to replace it -crazy. What gets me pees is the lack of customer service, days until getting a live rep. Emails -days! like I said, wait for the second generation and determined to give it another round. My favorite steam oven so far is the Cuisinart. Like I said in the Cuisinart steam oven review video, it may be small but that steam oven out performed all the steam ovens I tested and Avona too. I know, hard to believe, but it is true. That tiny steam oven did some amazing things I didn’t expect with such a small factor. Take a look at that video if you haven’t done so. Yes, I just posted another F.Blumlein steam oven today and think it is pretty darn good. But, that Cuisinart still is my favorite! If I didn’t have all the issues with the Anova then maybe, Cuisinart would came in second due to the size. It is what it is 😁. I would hold off. Next year or so your going to see more steam ovens in the US available comparing to the selection we have now. Yeah, I would definitely wait. Have a wonderful night!!!! -Lou

Hi Lou, Just discovered the steam convection oven. Thank you for your thorough review! It was so helpful! Is it safe to put underneath your cabinets since all that steam is coming out when it's cooking? I don't want my cabinets to warp because the steam is so hot. That would be a deal-breaker for me.
@LouRao
@LouRao 3 жыл бұрын
Amy, If cabinets is about an inch or so away from top of steam oven, no problem. Cuisinart convention steam oven does not produce super hot steam coming out of the oven, so you shouldn’t have an issue with cabinets warping. I have mine underneath the cabinets. Also, I have two steam ovens underneath the cabinets and no problems. What I highly recommend, place the steam under your kitchen cabinet and do a test. Test the steam oven using the bread settings and set the timer for one hour (No bread in oven - only testing the steam effecting your cabinets.). After one hour, feel underneath the cabinets for moisture. If the cabinets isn’t too wet or saturated from the steam, you’re good to go. Also, Amazon has dropped the price ($299.99) for the Cuisinart steam oven. I don’t get paid or associated with this link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019XOZYEA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Not sure how long the dropped price will remain, but it is on sale now.
