Great vlog as always. I really like that you put things like this in as a lot of people have a stigma about head lice. It's great that you use this as a teaching tool for others.. I used to work in a day nursery (3mts to 5yrs olds) as you can imagine at the certain times of year that they are about I advised parents & staff to use tea tree oil behind their ears and that helps to deter the lice. Great vlog guys x

I definitely recommend investing in one of the little nit combs like they used at the lice clinic. I mentioned yesterday that a hot daily shower, blow dryer and flat iron are the things I feel have saved me as a teacher. We literally had children with lice daily in my classroom last spring from about the end of Feb until school ended in May and I was able to keep from getting it. I'd forgotten about the nit comb, but I used it daily as well for a while in the shower when I got home from work just to make sure if anything happened to hitch a ride home it would be combed out and washed down the drain. On another note, I totally feel for Jay, that cotton ball phobia (I can hardly even type the word without getting the heebie jeebies) is no joke!!

Merry Christmas +Cullen & Katie - This was a good vlog. I can totally relate with the entire lice fiasco. My daughter got it at daycare when she was 4 years old. Her hair is the same color as Gaines and was about as long and thick as Emily's. Im glad you mentioned that it has nothing to do with hygiene. It is a huge misunderstanding. In fact, nits (eggs) attach better to super clean hair than hair that hasn't been washed everyday. FYI, the way you tell if it is product, dandruff, etc. vs a nit is if you can easily move it. Nits attach very strongly to the hair shaft - usually within an inch of the scalp (warmth) and have to be pulled out with tweezers, fingernails, nit combs, etc. It will not 'flick' or 'blow away'. If it does, then it isn't a nit. I worked in Public Health for many years and families would come in regularly to be checked. When my daughter came down with it, it was me who checked the entire daycare and showed parents how to pick the nits out. Lucky me, huh! Anyways, usually one treatment does the trick, but it all depends on what stages the nits are at (new vs ready to hatch). Sometimes more than one treatment is needed. On that lovely note, I will sign off wishing you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2017. xoxox Heather (St Albert AB 🇨🇦)

Collen and Katie, you all got me itchen! I sure wish there was a lice place 8 yrs ago. I got them from hugging and holding a child. I am allergic to the bites didn't take me long to know my friends had them and now I did. After using the lice stuff and combing , they were still in my hair. Ran to the bathroom and.shaved my waist length hair completely off, no hair = no lice! So glad you all didn't get them! What a huge blessing for you all! Think its great you shared the worries and the info. It would of been nice to have some where to go like you all did! ! I am very afraid of catching the things again! I never leave my brushes where someone can use them even though thats not how I got em. Blessings to each!

Oh they make an absolute killing too! My brother and his wife had to go because their daughter's daycare had an outbreak and said kids couldn't come back until everyone was billed clean... it cost their family of three $150 just to be told they didn't have lice :X As relieved as they were to be lice free they weren't happy about the bill. Now if you actually have lice the cost is probably worth it, but there's no reason families can't invest in a $10 nit comb and check themselves. It's really pretty easy to do. As a teacher I've always just used the same methods to try and keep from getting them and have lucked out so far *fingers and toes crossed* despite having students in my class with lice a ton last year.

Yessssss considering I have 2 girls I have been through it twice, at 2 separate times, they are 9 years apart LOL The over the counter stuff don't work, at least for us it didn't and neither did the stuff from the Dr. what I found that does is regular dog flea shampoo and Dawn dish soap, and if you have a straightener that burns the eggs, I forgot to tell Kelley that yesterday, but it just don't stop with the hair, this is a future lesson for you guys, you have to wash their bedding and your bedding plus spray EVERYTHING that sit and lay on that is material, furniture, the carpet, their beds, everything, it's a pain to take care of it properly, and I don't care what the little pamphlet said, treat everything just to be safe, but.....you don't have to do that lol your clean :) Enjoyed watching you guy's at Jay's parents house, loved the gifts, how sweet. Thanks for sharing :) #IWantAChristmasCard :)

Dealt with life twice with my daughter. Luckily the first time we discovered that, after the first treatment, mayonnaise (and a louse comb) is wonderful for getting out nits AND conditioning the hair. We did the mayo treatment once a day for the 7 days between shampoos and it helped tremendously.

My kids school always has issues with lice every school year, we've been lucky so far & haven't had to deal with it yet. We use melaleuca tea tree, peppermint, lavender young living essential oils mixed for a lice concoction, not sure if it actually helps but I'll take it lol.

I watched TheJKToday yesterday...umm whoever opened that "place" is a genious! I had it in second grade (shared hairbrush) and I also taught at a PreK summer program where there was an outbreak that was not fun to deal with. we don't have a place like that in Nebraska so we did at home treatments. I wish we would have had that place!! Fun fact....lice actually prefer clean hair...which is the opposite of what many think. so if you get it...it's because you're clean not dirty ;)
@SnapesPrincess48 жыл бұрын
My favorite part was Gaines & Brooks in general, hehe!! They're so darn cute!! Actually, did you know that lice don't like dirty hair? This is bc they can't move & slide on it as easily as they can clean hair!! And you are right Cullen, tea tree oil helps repel them!! (: I used to get it ALL the time!! I'm super prone to it. For some reason they love me!! LOL!!

I have 3 daughters & only one of the three got it in school.It isn't fun & its a nightmare because you have to wash everything in the house!!! Lice loves clean hair & can't stick to oily hair so it loves clean people & anyone can get it.Kids share hats & heads are close in school so its easy to pass around.tea tree oil stinks but you can put it in shampoo if your child continues to get it or use hair spray or mousse.Just a few ideas but they are all older now so I'm done with that.I never seen a place to go like The Lice Place.That would have been great!lol
