At last, a curtain has been pulled back exposing one of the most BRUTAL episodes in Scotland's history, yet unknown to many...Thank you.

The single biggest blow to the Scottish culture, spirituality and way of life. So, so sad. And what's more, this isn't the only revolution where the people were stripped of their way of life.

Very well done, as a very proud Scot's Highlander, most refreshing to hear the awful truth and unspoken details about Culloden's aftermath, the so called "Pacification Of The Highlands!" Growing up in Lochaber I always felt our culture had a wealth and richness no money could buy. So many still ride along on the mythology and fancy associated with the Battle, as a Burnsian I visited the Battle Field and the sobering feel similar to Glen Coe is still chilling and unsettling to this day.

A very harrowing story that is not spoken about very much but you were able to explain and tell your material very sympathetically. You told us stories that were very difficult to hear, so thank you.

These accounts are so important, and so hard to hear. I can hear how hard this was to share, and I can hear heavy and jagged sighs. I just want to give you both a hug. I appreciate the important work that you’re doing. Also, though it is related that there is a distance felt with Gaelic and that connection, you can never truly be separated. You carry it inside and you can always tap into that. You’re a part of that tapestry. You’re an important part of the tapestry. 🌹

The overall brutality was utterly inhumane. Atrocities committed upon Scottish civilians nothing less than barbaric. They literally decimated an entire culture. I sincerely hope the King, Cumberland & responsible soldiers have ultimately been judged accordingly by a higher power. Thank you

Just listened to this, and so many memories awakened. I am of Scots and Afrikaans origines. My great grand fathers on both sides fought togetheragainst the Brittish in the Anglo Boer War. The same atrocities were done to the Afrikaans people by the Brittish forces. Women and children were placed in concentration camps, to die there. Farms were burned and livestock killed. All in the name of the Queen, by inhuman monsters.

You've created a wonderful testament to our history, long ago scrubbed from the history books This genocide that so decimated our peoples and our land is unknown to most, surprisingly. Thank you.

Having been at Culloden last year you can “feel” the atmosphere….silence and eery. As a proud Scot it sickens me why any true Scot would fight for them against our own 🤬

Many of Cumberland's units were Lowland Scot units. That needs to be covered and the only Hanovarian there at Culloden was Cumberland himself. Little is also mentioned of the Irish soldiers and English Jacobites fighting.

I was taught nothing of the brutal aftermath of Culloden at school in Scotland, the pacification, proscription of the language, the kilt & pipes. Why any Highlander would fight for the British state is beyond me, but over the centuries they have done just that, sadly.Absolutely nothing justifies the behaviour of the British state in that era, but it was then carried forward into empire, unfortunately, we Highlanders & Scots as a whole, were very prominent in empire & disproportionately in numbers. Not all was of course bad, but it does taint us Scots whether we like it or not.

I never really took much notice of any of this and my Parents as Scotch as they come to move to England back in the mid-1950s due to the offer of good jobs so I grew up in England but was never allowed to forget who I really was. I was told I came from a clan that was a big supporter of the Clan Mckenzie and when Culloden was mentioned I was told they were dealt with harshly being traitors to the crown. My question is why did the Crown deal so harshly with clans that had not taken part? then I think anyone willing to add a sentence of no quarter will be given to redcoats when this was not so would have no pity for the innocent at any time. No wonder he was called Sticking Billy

Stinking Billy. The English called him sweet William. Britain must be only country that had to look abroad for a third rate princeling to become its King. I’m off McKenzie stock. Scottish. Not Scotch. That’s whisky

Listening to this I understand where the lack of empathy for man comes from. You wonder why people question what happened to the slaves. These people were evil.
