Yes, they (the studio) were very low budget. You'll see quite a few actors, reused for different roles. Even for Archie Duncan (inspector Lestrade), who's seen occasionally, in other roles.

That's the same girlfriend as the episode about the guys pretending to crush some mineral, but actually counterfeiting, from a few weeks ago. They should've called this The Case Of The Recycled Fiancee.😉

Sadly a bit excessive in endevering to turn Dr. Watson in to a bluddering buffoon has made the episode more in to a facical semi-comedic Holmeianesque series with out any actual ACD story as per what ACD actually wrote. ACD was in fact a very talented writer who wrote some great stories. Alas. Just my opinion.

I agree that Doyle was a gifted writer. His style is elegant without being stilted; detailed without being complicated. I also agree with you on the unfortunate way Dr. Watson is portrayed.
