Cultural shocks in the USA / Michigan... Moving to the USA🇺🇸 as a Namibian 🇳🇦

Welcome to the USA . Yes we have drive thru everything , seems Americans are always in a hurry but no place to go. Peoples accent will be an amusement for you many years to come. We Americans have been talking about hard to understand accents depending where you are (which state you are living -visiting) for a long time. Tipping is not as mandatory as you may think. years ago many people working, the "tips" were part of salary. Tipping was always (and still should be) gratuitous. Yes when using your car you have to pump your own gas. Again, years ago gas stations had a person to pump gas for you, however times have changed and now with just one employee you can have one small building to cashier your purchase . Be cautious of some people you will meet, they may not have your best interests in mind. If you have the funds and the time take a trip to other places (states) you will find the weather, people and the sights to be enlightening.

Who does the tipping benefit, the cashier or business? Because l heard you mentioned percentage.
