Vodcasts are short videos that weave relevant topics and research-based content with interviews and authentic experiences caring for children. They can be used by individuals or in groups. To optimize their utility, check out the corresponding Discussion Starters and the Great Ideas article to use as a guide with the Vodcast. Better Kid Care hopes that you can spark ideas, share meaningful information, or meet professional development goals with these materials.

I really like this quote: "Whenever a new family starts with us, we always do a getting to know you interview. So we sit down with them and we ask them questions about their home life and about their background, who they live with. So the teachers can connect with the children on a more personal level like tell me about your brother? How is your mom or your dad? That way they also do not ask inappropriate questions like how is your dad if the child does not live with the dad. Teachers make sure they get to know them through home visits and conferences as well. We have four different conferences every year or home visits depending. During that time, we sit down with the families and we really talk about what their goals are? And what are their reasons for having their children here? What do they expect to get out of it? And how can we help them work towards those goals together?" (Culture understanding, 2015, 2:55). This understanding helps new families to combine with society and copy the changes. Well done.
