In 1983 you " put a spell on me" the first time I heard you sing DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME, 40 years later I STILL remember EXACTLY where I was when I first listened to it! It happened AGAIN in Jan. 2023 after NOT hearing you for decades, I clicked on a song of yours that You Tube kept persistently inserting into my chosen music line-up. (I generally delete everything You Tube inserts just as persistently.) This time the song was TIME: CLOCK OF THE HEART, after hearing it once I was hooked (almost like a drug) all over again, I started listening to CULTURE CLUB, EXCLUSIVELY at home (and in my car after my new CD copies of the first 2 CULTURE CLUB albums arrived). ❤I literally went "down the rabbit hole" with CULTURE CLUB (also just finishing your first book--a masterpiece!--with the second on order). While NOTHING can undo my love of your 80's voice (I'm still ordering MORE of CULTURE CLUB'S early stuff on CD), this is a WELL DONE remake of one of my favorite songs, making GOOD use of your new, deeper voice! 💋

I once heard George say on a talk show he wasn't going to write any more songs like DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME, as it was a "victim" song, which made me SAD, his songs were so wonderful. God!!! 40 years have passed!!!!! I was 15 then, growing up in Greece, a country trying to leave it's bitter past behind and enter the west world. I remember when i first saw George in the Do You Really.... video clip at the one and only pop music tv show called Musicorama, broadcasted once every two weeks and i was shocked!!!!. Yannis Petridis the Greek John Peel gave alot of air time to Culture Club and they became popular. I had the chance to see them live at the first major concert in my hometown Atnens, the 1985 2 days event Rock In Athens. The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Clash, The Stranglers played among others, but the talk of the day were CC and not for a good reason. My clueless fellow Greeks intrigued by George's appearence started to throw rocks at hm and the band. I felt so ashamed!!! I was so much into the post punk genre then, i concidered CC as just a pop group. Growing up and getting to know other music genres, i can now appreciate their greatness. George is a musical genius, Bowie level, a white English kid with the heart of a Motown black. Hearing of his troubled past and seeing him doing good lately makes me happy!!! Keep on creating Boy, i wish more boys would b like u!!! PS : Time, Church and Victims my top 3 CC songs!!!

LJencat This song is such a beautiful song , the title says it all for me 'Time' and I can't even explain 'Time' as the word holds something almost akin to the word 'Life'. It is so meaningful. The song sung by George or sung with Culture Club is melancholic and full of wisdom and hopeful all at once. Its also goes without saying, it is extremely romantic.
