When I first came to Jakarta, I couldn't describe the place and its hectic. It's so different than KL, the nearest to KL is Singapore. If my friends asked me about Jakarta, I would definitely said you'd all better go and experience it yourselves. One day after shopping, while I was walking alone heading to my apartment, a big walking woman statue came to me and a hand came out from its kebaya dress, I was so frightened, I scream and ran back to the mall. 😅 what an experience.

I can understand your friend's mum's reaction to the traditional market, because Canada is a country where people already do a lot of activities in the modern market, so to the old Kebayoran market, your mum was very surprised.

Thank you for your interesting traveling video. :) As a Muslim and Indonesian living in Surabaya City (the second largest city in Indonesia), East Java, I heartfully thank you for traveling Indonesia, a country of about 90% of our around 279 million people are Muslims. I hope you shall have pleasant journey and under God's, Allaah's compassion and guidance. :) By the way, Indonesia is strategically between two continents and two oceans, has around 17,000 islands (the largest archipelago in the World), 1,300 different ethnic groups, over 700 languages, etc. It means that you can enjoy so many variations of nice foods and drinks, quite different climates (we have snow too), and lots of beautiful sceneries. Enjoy! :)

When you see lots of vendors in the traditional markets along the street..that's the way how some Indonesians fight for their life...those who have better living, they may choose to shop in the big malls...they ( traditional and modern markets ) are existing side by side creating harmony...that makes our country strong...not collapsed during pandemy till now...we are survived as our economy grows well because it is helped by informal economy sectors...of course it is different from some European countries . Poverty is still there ( like many other developing countries ) but starvation/famine never happens in Indonesia as we are always grateful and happy for what we have.

Tinggal pilih mana yang nyaman kita kunjungi mana yg tidak. Kita adalah bangsa yg flexibel BS menyikapi keadaan ekonomi kita, untuk menghemat pengeluaran kita tinggal atur sebijak2nya. Inilah Indonesia., orang2nya tahan banting. Sll bersyukur tak kan mengenal arti stress.

3:55 In Southeast Asia You only such wiring job in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines. But the worst is in Thailand, especially outside Bangkok, probably because they don't rely on proper neighbourhood substation to convert the voltage down to house voltage, rather they pull high voltage lines (I think 69kV) everywhere and have transformers installed on the pole (American style I believe). And the first time I was in Phuket I think I saw more than 10 birds got electrocuted. In Malaysia we had overhead telecomunication and power cable before, but it's slowly being replaced with underground cable. Almost complete except for the villages. But even back then, it wasn't as hectic as in the video, Only 4 cables in most cases, carrying 3 phase power at low voltage (i think around 415V). Each neighbourhood would have one substation building for the step down transformer and power conditioning.

Honestly, there's nothing good about the smoke fumes everywhere. It's just not fair for those who are non-smokers.
