Is kombucha good for you? Is it alcoholic? I've been drinking kombucha for almost two decades. During year two, I stopped drinking it for three months because I read an article online from someone supposedly in the know who thought it was bad for you. Tune in to find out what I discovered.

Hey Donna!! I just got a whole lot of plums from my neighbor and needed to do something with them for they are VERY ripe, soft and juicy. So I decided to pulverize them into juice and freeze them to make your kefir soda recipe. I added some kombucha I had made to the mixer to dilute and began pouring the mixture into 2C sized containers and set aside until I was finished (and make room in the freezer!) Do you know, the kombucha was already working on the juice and was popping the lids on the plastic containers with bubbling around the edges! Just sitting on the counter waiting on me! This isn't going to hinder the kefir soda microbes is it, after I thaw it and put in the kefir soda packet? I just used the kombucha to thin the fruit pulp a little bit. I saved a little of the plum pulp and mixed it into my kombucha that I have had in my icebox for awhile and WOW, it is sooooooooo goooood. I can't wait to try the kefir soda starter I got from you. Love your channel!

Hello Ms. Donna. I make my own fermented fruits like mangoes, bananas, apples and sometimes a combination of different kinds of fruit. My question is are fermented fruits just as beneficial as sauerkraut?
@CulturedFoodLife

Hi Nyra, It's hard to say. If they are lacto fermented (raw and without vinegar) they should still have good bacteria. But all cultured foods are different and contain their own special properties. I would still suggest consuming sauerkraut or other cultured veggies as well. Hope this helps!

Sometimes I just can't keep up with my kombucha production with as fast as my husband and I drink it so I will buy G.T.'s when I need to.

I’ve thought about continuous brew but my husband likes the second ferment and I like mine plain. Good thing he just ran out of green olives. Bought a gallon jar and will put it in smaller jars for ease of use and use the jar for another kombucha vessel. Lol

My daughter makes about 4 gallons a week hehe! She uses 2 gallon glass cookie jars from target and it only takes her about 45 minutes to bottle everything. I love that you guys love it so much! We buy kombucha still as well. It can be a fun treat to go and get something new! Happy Brewing!

Hi Donna! Is there any research out there linking kombucha to the elimination of psoriasis? Any links, books or anything that you can point me to?

Hi Wade, I don't have any specific information about this on hand. But I hope to have a podcast on this soon and I do know that cultured foods can help with psoriasis overall. Particularly kefir! We have stories on similar subjects you can find on our lives touched page: www.culturedfoodlife.com/lives-touched/

Donna, I love this Podcast just as much as all the others but I have to ask when you Say kombucha is good for candida Are you referring only to the nonflavored or those also that have been 2nd fermented ?
@CulturedFoodLife
@CulturedFoodLife 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel, If you have a candida imbalance then you just need to make sure your kombucha is no longer sweet tasting at all. If you have a healthy overall gut the small amount of residual sugar from the sugar that could be present wont hurt you or cause candida. But if you have an imbalance you need to be extra strict. You can still do 2nd ferments ( we did!) but just make sure they are no longer sweet tasting and using things like lemon, ginger and cranberry can be the most helpful. I talk about this in my candida blog here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/candida-and-cultured-foods/

@Jenna Henschel Everything you said is so true! We did 2nd fermented kombucha and it really helped us overall. This is because the good bacteria is so strong and it is specifically good at healing! I talk more about this here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/candida-and-cultured-foods/ Thanks for sharing your story!

is that GTS? I quit because my vaginal yeast seemed worse, not very knowlegable.

I love GTS and it is one the things that helped heal our candida. But keep in mind you can go through a healing crisis/detox which can make symptoms flare up temporarily until things get better. www.culturedfoodlife.com/candida-and-cultured-foods/
