My father had a 20 year "war" with the beavers on our property. We would never completely tear out the damn, just drop the pond level a foot or so. Never seen them reuse a stick, but they would use anything they came across in those damns. Including the posted signs and posts they were on. I carry on the unwinnable war. But I, like my father, won't ever drop the level enough to put them in danger. Just draw back the level a bit. We like them, and that pond supports so much wildlife it's truly amazing.

Never heard that beavers don’t use old/aged material only they don’t reuse material.

I look forward to your videos. As I have said I’m fascinated that these animals have such innate instincts. They can be good to protect wetlands outside urban areas or near farms but seeing the damage they can do is astounding. Keep up the good work. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

I believe if the old stuff is in the water they'll use it, but if it's on the bank they won't but don't quote me! nice video!

I’m guessing that the Fox is a good sized river with all of these creeks running into it. Thanks for the Sunday wake-up

Beavers are incredible really, how they build those damns , it's a lot of work as I'm sure you can attest to when you're unclogging them .

I think muskrats reuse some materials and I also think they use a lot of mud.

Those wooden footers are definitely not long for this world. Without them to reinforce the retaining planks the soil is going to shift and the bridge will be compromised.

Beavers use anything unless they have used it before which they know because they can smell there scent on it
