Cummins Swap The Hyster Part 18: Worlds Most Powerful Forklift Gets Some Tires and Air Tank Plumbing

In this video the weight of the big 8.3 Cummins proved too much for the old tires and one of them had split in the shop and gone flat. So after a Sundays drive to source a good pair of rims and thanks to a fleet changing some out of date tires I managed to score some new tires for cheap. The tires are probably close to double the footprint on the ground being that they are radials so now I have a smoother ride and maybe it won't sink in so bad. There is a lot of weight on that tail when not lifting. I also go over the things I have forgotten and the tings I have to change. Slow shipping and backordered parts is making this slower than it should be as well. Thanks for watching and hopefully this project will be wrapping up soon!

Brian we got the same weather here in Texas. It is 6 degrees here right now 95% chance of more snow and ice . Tonight will be 1 degree and and Tuesday -2. No chance of being above freezing till Friday and then the high for Friday is 35. Water is froze in the kitchen but still have water in the bathroom for now. I hope pipes do not bust between now and Friday. Where is a Ground Hog when you need one ! lol

Hope nothing breaks! As long as we keep power here I think I will be good. Hate the prospect of having to try to keep warm on firewood!

@@bcbloc02 I just got power back about an hour ago. Been off for 2 days. I have electric heat. Lucky I have 2 portable propane bottles an a little bottle heater. Been on the couch with a flashlight and my little dog for the last 2 days. Tired of sitting in the dark. I think I may know how solitary confinement might be. LOL I have not seen it this bad since the early 60's. Then we were without power for 3 days but had propane tank and propane cook stove and heaters

@@terrycannon570 We had a big ice storm like 10 years ago and were out for 2 weeks. Fortunately that was enough to make the utilities more proactive about keeping trees away from the lines.

@@terrycannon570 Mainly coal and natural gas here still. The solar panels here are all snow and ice covered so I doubt they are doing anything either. Of course we don't have very many of them so they don't have a big impact. We should have lots of hydro power here because we have the water but it is virtually impossible to get the permits to rebuild the dams to hydro so it just stays as it is.

I know it's extra expense, but considering that the forklift does tight turns under heavy weight, in some situations, i'd go for a beadlock type rim.

You will not pull an inflated one of these tires over the bead. No need for locks.

I thought you would be used to dealing with split ring rims just fit new tyres 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Oh I can deal with them myself but prefer not too. Also its hard to find those old tires in a tire pile any good anymore. The modern fleet stuff is pretty easy to come by.
