All of them are unreliable. Cummins is still most reliable. Inline six makes it naturally smoother without balancers. Roller lifters are fine, people need to stop using 15w40. I think all of them can be reliable if they’re deleted. All three are great engines. Believe it or not, the Nissan/Cummins 5.0 is even reliable once you’ve removed all of the crap on it. That engine just needs oil changes every 5000 miles.

Unfortunately the new Cummins 2019 and up has had issues with the hydraulic lifters. Mine went at 39k. Hopefully they get it sorted out as otherwise is an amazing engine. The exhaust brake sounds incredible and it just chugs along towing heavy loads. Definitely not the quickest of the bunch though.

Powerstroke and Cummins are the best out there. I like better Powerstroke yes and they can last forever with an excellent maintenance. Maintenance is key to all engines. Most of the problem with this engines Powerstroke and Cummins are the owners with maintenance.

That engine u showed for the ford was not a powerstroke , it was a 7.3 liter I D I ENGINE that they put a turbo , the power stroke was a direct injection v8 with a Garrett turbo and heui that used high pressure engine oil to fire the injectors. I know this because i owned every ford diesel from the 6.9 idi 7.3 idi then the 7.3 idi with the turbo and it only says turbo diesel under the f250/f350 badge , and then i had a couple 1997 powerstrokes, about 3 2000 7.3 powerstrokes were all great worktruck engines that never died on me , and are prob out there right now doin something cool. The 86 6.9 had 689k when i sold it and all the other 7.3s i had were all above 200k with some over 400k i dont like any of the crap they are putting on these new diesels, they could be tuned to burn way cleaner without all that junk

Duramax all the way and the only reason why power strokes are the top selling vehicle and they have been it’s all because they’re cheaper for companies to buy and if I go to every company that I have ever worked for and I have own companies too I figured out that Ford sucks ballsand Cummins and Dodgers are better and Duramax’s last longer than both of them
@copeyy42
@copeyy42 8 күн бұрын
It goes Cummins, powerstroke, duramax. Duramax is dogshit, Cummins and powerstroke is just person preference. Powerstrokes have a nicer/cleaner interior, Cummins 100% for hauling but a powerstroke will do almost the same exact as a Cummins. Powerstrokes will last longer but Cummins will give u a run for ur buck for how nice they haul.
@Bigtuna-jh9uq
@Bigtuna-jh9uq 7 күн бұрын
You have no clue. Powerstroke had about a decade worth of bad years between the 6.0, 6.4, and early 6.7’s. It’s made in Mexico Cummins had its problems too. VP44, KDP, and the casted blocks from Brazil that crack. Duramax has had less problems between the 3 and is the only one made in the USA.

@@Bigtuna-jh9uq all suck with the current emissions. but ive had to replace more fuel injectors in Duramax's than any other. most the Cummins i see are for maintince not major repairs. an the tickers are usally over 300k. but like i said they all suck with the current emissions. shop often gets all 3 in with emissions related problems. but i dont work on thoes. but cummins is far more popular by me.
