This is an example of the natural progression that Shoe manufacturers need to do to stabilize many of the super squishy shoes they have been putting out for the last 2-3 years. Basically creating a new category of shoe: Neutral with stability aspects. Funny enough, squishy shoes with full plates have been really good for my foot strike. Whereas shoes like the Novablast V1 and Rebel V2 were just too squishy without the plate, so it resulted in too much crashing in on the medial side. I recently went with the Mizuno WaveRider 25, and so far the wave plate has been working really well for me personally.

The cumulus is a great running shoe. Great stability, can be bought for a reasonable price and gets the job done. I have Cumulus, Nimbus and Novablast 2 in my collection. I find I run well with them and always feel very comfortable on long runs. Not the fastest no but I’d rather be a bit slower and injury free than punishing my body.

@@LilyW-in7ou I’m currently using the Kayano 28 only. This is my first marathon after a year of getting used to running, so in the grand scheme of time, it’s still fairly new to me. I have a pair of Altra Escalante Racers that are nice for a quick run, but that zero drop feel is really hard on your muscles and tendons over longer distances. Excellent review and the comparisons are particularly appreciated. You described the differences so clearly; these product lines can be so confusing. The only element for women to consider are the excessively high drops in women’s versions of some of these--I believe the Nimbus (and some of their other models not mentioned here) has been and continues to be 13-14 mm, whereas the Cumulus 24 will be 8 mm if I’m not mistaken. So if we women are interested in the Nimbus we might consider trying the men’s version if the last suits our feet. I’m thinking the Cumulus is more “my kind of shoe” anyway, though.
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
I’ll double check, but I think the Cumulus is still going to be a 10mm drop for women. But I think there will be other women specific features* that may cause some women to still prefer the women’s version over the men’s. *I will check for what specifically the women’s models features are

@acpmedicine2 жыл бұрын
Ran in both the cumulus 24 and novablast 2 The cumulus has flight foam plus mid foam that is new compared to the novablast 2 with flight foam The new foam is the cumulus is supposed to be lighter, bouncier, and more cushioned than the old The novablast 3 will have the new foam That said, in running on both, neither feels like a heavy shoe. The cumulus ride is a bit more stable and cushioned and sorta like the Clifton. The novablast is less isolated in terms of road feel than the cumulus, less cushioned but still good, and has more spring in mg opinion So, for me, if you want a shoe a little more road isolation a little mild stability and pillow cushion vs spring get the cumulus 24 Have over 300 plus in the novablast and over 200 in the cumulus 24 I like both and use both shoes in my daily training

Not accurate. The nimbus 24 has the new flyte foam blast +. The cumulus has the exact same flyte float blast as novablast 2
@acpmedicine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Per believe in the run, the nimbus 24 is the “the first ascis shoe to have flight foam blast plus,”. The novablast has flight foam blast and not flight foam plus. Flight foam blast plus is the next generation wiith ASICS saying that it is supposed to be 15% bouncier and reactive than flight foam blast.

I’ve been running in the ASICS Nimbus for over a decade. I stumbled across the Cumulus 22s A couple years ago and found them to be a great alternative to the Nimbus. They felt light, yet supportive and quick. They offer good lateral support and I didn’t have to keep adjusting the laces in time and really tight like I do with the Nimbus to get more stability. I am thinking about ordering the Cumulus 24s and wonder how they compare to the 22s. 🏃♀

Will asics ever remove the gel from the cumulus/nimbus/kayano line-up? I feel as there is no point in having gel in the shoes now with the new foam they are developing, plus it would shave some weight off of all of the models.
@prod1gy3052 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don’t think they will. They have been reducing the amount of gel in each model as every year passes but I don’t think they will ever remove it completely. Thank you Kofuzi. Im not trying to be rude. High heel to toe ratio causes a lot strees on my feet. Pressure on my toes and knee? I like to pull and push from my forefoot n ball not my toes. The new nike pegasus insole felt squishy. I need feel and grip. But i like the mizuno insole. I heard multi parts of a shoe can feel clunky. My nike glide eventually did. Does all high stack shoes feel a little more off balance than regular? Depending on foam width design? So if you jog or if you run a marathon or run sprints then? Thanks. Righteousness. Cocoon. Unknown.

I'm really confused by your comment. you say you don't like high heel drop, but you like mizuno? but mizuno have the highest heel drops. @kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
I don't have a lot of experience tinkering with cadence, but I'm not sure that's how it works. the way to get your regular runs to be at a faster pace is to make each step more potent. run more miles and more often (and likely, run a bit slower on your regular days). you will become more efficient. on the flip side, don't go and try to get faster by artificially trying to increase stride length. also, 189 is a high number. without context of your height or being able to see your gait, it would seem to me that you are running pretty hard for your "usual morning runs". that's not how a lot of experienced runners run.
