Cunard Afternoon Tea & Buffet Snack Food (King's Court & Carinthia Lounge)

See what Afternoon Tea experience and what the food was like from a Cunard cruise! Being a British line, there are raised expectations for high tea at sea, so see if we were impressed. We also show you the food from two additional venues that offer snack food in the afternoon- the King's Court buffet & the Carinthia Lounge. There were finger sandwiches (including gluten-free), scones (of course!), plus decadent desserts.
These are all Cunard included food- no need to pay extra, and were from our 7 day June 2022 Transatlantic voyage aboard the Cunard Queen Mary 2 ocean liner.

I am not a picky eater at all and am willing to try things. I’ve taught my children and grandchildren to try something once and if they don’t like it I won’t force them to eat it and it’s been my rule since my grandmother taught me the same rule over 55 years ago.

Another great video. You folks always seem to cover the cruise lines that are on my "wish list." The pastries and other food look really great but the ambiance of the first venue would be a draw to me ... before I sneak down to the other two venues to make sure that I do not miss out on anything. When are you all going to sponsor a group cruise. 😃

Thank you so much! 😊 Yeah it was a nice ambiance at the Queen's Lounge with the live music and just everyone having a good time chatting away. We would've enjoyed it more if we had a better table, so get there early if you do go. A group cruise sounds like a lot of fun, but it'd make it tougher for us to do these videos 🙂

Another incredible video. Thank you so much. Our Trans Atlantic cruise on Holland America is 80-something days away. I’m curious about Afternoon Tea. Is a selection of tea offered, or are you relegated to whatever comes out of the pot? Is there iced tea available? Joanna, I can’t help but picture you in a police officer uniform whilst you were sampling donuts. Those are definitely superior to any donut shop offerings. We share a love for white chocolate. That mousse must be to die for. You are now officially forgiven for putting ketchup on a hot dog in a recent video 🙂. (Side note: I discovered last night my 16-year old cat likes hot dogs 🤦🏻‍♂️) Well done with the raised pinky. Very classy! Speaking of fingers, where actually do they get fingers for those finger sandwiches? Again, excellent video. Thank you so much for sharing your cruise with us. That's a great question. It was pretty rough for two days. Plus the wind was really cold which surprised us a little since it was June. I'll post a video of it so you and others can see what it was like.

You sure can, though it's best to ask for the amount you want when the waiter first come over. Otherwise you might have to wait a while for more since they're really busy!

The interesting thing is that it was his request to go on this cruise since he likes history of ships. He wasn't bored at all- went to all the presentations (including every one of the Greatest Generation talks by a group of war veterans) & shows. He also went to the kid's club a couple times. Thank you- I'm sure your son is as well! Nope no tux- just a sports jacket, tie & dress pants for myself & son. It was certainly not as formal as we expected. On the non-gala nights we even saw guests just wearing a sweaters or just a long sleeve shirt w/o tie.

Too bad that they don’t serve the food on the traditional 3-tier trays. Although with the tables being so small there wouldn’t be room for them, I guess. Your wife is so cute! I watch all of your videos and thoroughly enjoy her take on the food. Wish you did dinner in the dining room instead of the buffet, but that simply means you must cruise again so you can show us the food there! A real win-win! 😋

I have Scone Butter Strawberry jam cream a much more sensuous experience and it gets all over my beard and moustache great fun, also I make my tea as follows milk teabag boiling hot water it mixes better and your putting hot liquid on cold milk not everyone in England does it that way but if you have paid for it you have it your way

At the King's Court buffet, you can request one of the helpful wait staff members to bring you tea, or you could go to the drinks station where they will dispense for you.

I've never seen a scone broken up to eat with jam and cream! Also plain not fruity scones are normal if jam and cream are to be added otherwise just butter. Didn't they give you a spoon instead of fork to eat the mousse with? All looks delicious though.

You know, they did away with the clotted cream (for scones) a few years back, to save money. Carnival is calling the shots now, sadly. (I've done 9 trans-Atlantic voyages on QM2, so I'm not a newbie!)

Took the Tea on the 400th Transatlantic cruise this week and was totally UNDERWHELMED. The sandwiches were bland and the scones tiny with very little cream served. Better fayre at the Carinthia lounge. No special atmosphere in the Queens Room, really cannot recommend this.

The ship is getting old and boring. Just came back from 16 days Cunard today. It degraded a lot. food quality and quantity BAD. especially at the Lido. Super short handed. It is at the Carnival cruise style. No dance host, no queens room Hostess, no professional dancer exhibition, etc. will not recommend for this price ( we are diamond on Cunard, not a newbie)

I could never go on a cruise, I would be constantly asking are we there yet?, no sir for the 72nd time, please go inside and stuff your face, take your mind off the journey, I will thanks, 2 minutes later I am asking the waiter, are we there yet?, again sir, No, please select off the menu your meal, I will have the fish and potato pie, with garden vegetables and side order of chips, before you go are we there yet?.

A cruise ship itself pretty much is a "destination"- there are usually lots of fun activities, so pretty hard to be bored 🙂
