Great review. Thanks for taking the time to finish the book and quote passages as examples. I think I had this on a wishlist at one point but later removed it. I want to say that I heard about it from RagnarRox KZbin channel but I’m really not sure. My standout horror read for October was Peter Tonkin’s “Killer”. The hot take is Jaws crossed with Moby Dick with heavy dose of Arctic survival. I just didn’t finish in time for a spooky season upload.

Thanks so much! And yeah since this book's biggest issue is its prose, I had to quote from it to make people understand that it's worse than just a matter of taste! But other booktubers seem to go gaga for this book so maybe I'm missing something lol Cool! Never heard of it, but sounds cool! The Terror by Dan Simmons sorta fits that description too, and I thought that was decent, so I'll have to look into Killer as well!

I know I took it back out of my wishlist a while back based on… something but I don’t know why past me did that. Who knows I might read it in the future, it can sometimes be fun to read something if its bad. Its mediocre reads that make me sad because there’s nothing really to say. I feel like I didn’t enjoy “The Terror” but I’ve loved other Simmons stuff so I have to wonder if I was sick or something. One day I’ll try it again. I’ll probably upload my video for “Killer” in the next week (aiming at the weekend). Pretty sure it’ll be without spoilers….yeah, probably. But (completely independent of me) if you do read it I’d love to hear what you think!

While I completely disagree with you I still had a lot of fun watching you go through this book as you were reading it. I loved Cunning Folk and I was certain you would too, but never fear cause you can just pick the next off the list 😄

Yes, I'll definitely be reading some books off that list in the future! Though next time, I'm not gonna let a wheel decide :P One of those Shirley Jackson books will probably be next! Thanks again for the recommendation! :)
