I am overjoyed that I have discovered Edoardo. I became enamored by his voice after listening to a number of Sunday Readings in the podcasts of the NY Times. His voice stands out not only because of his tone, not only because of his clear pronunciation but because of his timing. Each sentence or phrase is perfectly spaced out so the listener becomes drawn in to the story no matter the subject. One recent reading was called Mother & Daughter - about two White Rhinos - the last remaining on earth - he brought me to tears. He's enthralling.

A gifted actor. Very surprised he wasn't considered for more film roles. Glad to see he's doing well.

He’s the ultimate storyteller. The first I listened to was Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. He adds such humanity to the characters, it’s not just acting in my opinion. So, I look for books with his name attached. Also, on the Calm app. They keep trying to get me to listen to others, but his is so successful. “Good evening, my name is Edoardo and tonight I have the pleasure of reading to you…” and I’m out like the light! Golden!

Thanks for this interview! I'm listening to Robert Mccammon's Matthew Corbett series right now and Edoardo is one of the greatest audiobook performers I've ever heard.

Loved his reading of Cloven Viscount by Italo Calvino! So much energy and effort for all the different characters.

Narrators have a huge impact on the enjoyment of the book! The wrong narrator ruins a book whereas the right one makes the book a joy (if the story is good). Ballerini is a great narrator. But not all actors make fantastic narrators (ie: won't listen to M Gyllenhaal or B Pinchot). I'd be interested in War and Peace narrated by Ballerini! I love classic books and Russian authors.

I truly enjoyed this interview! There is a je ne sais quoi Edoardo Ballerini brings to audio books. Perhaps part of the beauty of his narration/acting is a sense of a time past. I am often surprised by a sense of nostalgia when I listen to his narration. I now look forward to listening to other books he's read... I never thought I'd be interested in listening to 'War and Peace'!

The reading/performance of Gil Fronsdal's "The Buddha Before Buddhism", is musical and poetic. I could listen a thousand times.

It's so wierd hearing his voice here vs. hearing his voice as Ignaceous D'allessio in Boardwalk Empire.
