Your description is really great I have painted pictures for many years, so I had a chance to see many people's paintings. But no one has ever used pastel as brilliant as you. I'll visit you often. Thank you for showing me a good work. Be healthy. 😊❤❤👍💎

Watching your videos shadowing technique, I understand you apply layers as violet for shape , and green so White for Light and yellow ocre and Red , is it True or not?

Are you blending with the paint brush or adding colour? Your work is amazing & so inspiring 😍
@beatrice06104 жыл бұрын
Since he’s working with pastel, the material is easier to spread around more so than say... pencil. So, yes! He’s probably blending with a brush to make that soft flesh texture!

Does anyone know why the first green layer is necessary? Why not go directly into the flesh colors?
@CuongNguyenArt4 жыл бұрын
josiah harder The green undertone is like the verdaccio technique in oil painting. It brings out the skin tones because green makes its complement color red (skin tones are red-based) more vibrant. It also provides cool undertones that look like veins under the flesh when thin layers of flesh colors are applied over it. The same effect happens if you choose a midtone green or blue paper under pastel flesh tones. Hope this helps.

@lorij26464 жыл бұрын
It’s a technique from the Old Masters called Verdaccio, used to set up the tonal values.

I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this so I want to say up front that I think these are amazing works - especially the way the skin seems to give off it's own light - however - I have watched all these videos and every subject is drawn with the same selection of colors. Maybe I'm missing the subtlty because it's being viewed on a monitor but they all seem to end up with the same skin tone and I don't even think that it's accurate. I use a pin hole view finder to compare sections of my drawing to the photo and you may think you've nailed it but when you compare the two you realize that you are still way way off. When you compare the color of his hand at 4:54 to the drawing you can see the difference.
