I don't know what story behind this but from I'm interpreting either cupid was setting him up with the wrong people just so he could have this guy to himself since he's in love with him which finally caused him to fall in love with cupid. Or The cupid kept trying to find the right person for this guy but each one turned out wrong and he was getting frustrated until he realised he was the person the guy was looking for and finally gets with him. I honestly prefer the first one cause it really fits in with this vibe of dark undertones on really pastel and pretty colours that this animatic had. And I really like the whole idea of Cupid not being an innocent cherub and actually being manipulative or even cruel
