I always thought this trick was done by secretly slipping the extra ball under the bottom cup but with the transparent cups it's so much simpler! In any case, it's easy but it does require a lot of practice to make it look seamless and natural (as is the case with almost all up-close magic tricks).

Clear cups made it easier to follow but would have preferred you stuck with the red balls.

The clear cups are quite thin though. I don't think they could have handled the red balls without distorting their own shape & spoiling the demonstration so he had to go with paper for the clear cups.

I knew the secret since years ago, as a kid one of my Christmas presents was a spanish magic game called Magia Borras and this is one of the tricks (some of the others are making balls appear between your fingers or making levitate a card chosen by someone else and mixed among the deck)
