I can't recall the pretence but I was watching the Larry Sanders Show and saw something that was nicked many years later by a lesser comedic vehicle. It was huge hit of course. Actors paid many hundreds of thousands an episode. " Take the pen" is Larry's right.

It would get in astronauts' eyes and lungs and critically into the electrical stuff and fry equipment. Fischer made a dirt cheap pen that is waterproof, greaseproof, can freeze or be burned and still work, writes at any angle, and lasts longer than a regular ballpoint. It even has a plastic adapter to work with any pen that takes a parker/schmidt g2 refill. It worked so well for such a bargain the Soviets bought them for their cosmonauts I completely understand my autistic fanboying over a pen is lame but I've heard this quip about "we spent millions designing a pen and the ruskies used a pencil" and it's the complete opposite story lol
