I just saw this video again, after a year, and I'm still fully shocked by the way you Ruth has explained such a hard task, it's amazing what we can do using TREATAS !! THANKS!!

Hi Ruth need your help with a dumb problem? I have an order report published on a PBI app. A person can be first or second seller in an order and the report has RLS over the orders and linked to the seller code. My fact table has separate columns with first and second seller code. I just figured out that they can only see their first sales orders but I had a measure with their second seller orders wich they can't see due to the RLS auto filtering. I need your DAX magic! The second seller measure is a calculate with an ALL over salesman dimension table and a TREATAS with the actual seller code (VAR) to transform it to the second seller code.

Brilliantly simple explanation. Much better than the sqlbi-guys. ...and to showcase 'New Table' as Excel's F9-button. Think if PowerBI could invoke a 'New Table' from F9.
@CurbalEN7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ola! Their explanation goes deeper and it is more technical. I over simplify things, just to get the main point across, to lose the fear for the function and dare to go wild with it. Mmmmm F9?? I didn’t know there was a F9 shortcut for it, thanks! I will pin your post for excel users :) Happy weekend! /Ruth

sqlbi-guys do tend to over complicate their explanations, IMHO. great skill Ruth has in helping us break it down into a simple explanation

I think we serve different audiences. Their explanations are more technical and correct and for those who need to dig deeper. My explanations are more for beginners and excel users that want to get started. Together we hopefully pave the DAX path for everyone :) /Ruth

Lol. Good point. DAX for everyone. sqlbi is a good resource for sure.

Thanks! This use case seems different to quick measures, do you know how it’s used in quick measures the {( confuse me!
@CurbalEN5 жыл бұрын
I don’t use quick measures so I can’t tell. Try asking the author of the measure! /Ruth

Hi Ruth, Thanks for this explanation! How could you extend this further to include a parameter? Like territory? Thanks!

Hi Robert, could you ask in the power bi community? No time to check that,Thanks! /Ruth

You can use INTERSECT function in Excel power pivot

I tried to follow along with your example in Excel 365. TREATAS() still does not appear to be available.

Watching this today and making a note to use "it's just like when you want to eat an elephant; you have to cut him into small pieces" to make a point. 😃

Please, let's not eat elephants. We have to chop the lettuce into pieces in order to make a salad. That's better. I will work on understanding and using this function. Seems like a game changer to me.
