The Bodega Boys talk about growing up in the Bronx

Bronx natives Desus Nice and The Kid Mero established themselves as comedic duo The Bodega Boys with their first podcast and web series, Desus vs. Mero, which debuted on Complex TV at the end of 2013. The show's set evoked a true Bronx bodega (cardboard, crates, bottles of fruit barrel juice), and the podcast accelerated the popularity of the two, who had each established cult internet followings, primarily on Twitter.
As part of Home Sweet Home, Desus and Mero take us on a tour of the Bronx, with stops at a few of their early childhood homes, where Mero introduces us to the idea of Spanish cousins, Desus explains why you don't need an intercom in the Bronx (you just yell up, "Heyo!") and what a "Bronx tear" is (hint, it has nothing to do with crying).

I'm born and raised in the Bronx. One of my childhood friends sister lived in that building on Jerome. I'm from the Popham, Undercliff, Sedgwick Ave area. Or the beginning of Hip Hop- Kool Herc's playground. They are absolutely right, when saying the Bronx is dangerous, but not if you're from there. The danger part becomes normal everyday life. One time I was at all-star weekend in San Antonio. I went to the Hilton in San Antonio. The hotel was all booked up. I started talking to the person at the front desk. I told him I was from the Bronx and he found me a room. Almost the same thing happened to me in Vegas. I was talking to the lady at the front desk . when I was checking in. She saw that my driver's license was from the Bronx she said her husband was from the Bronx. She told me, let me do something for you. Then she took $100 off my room at New York New York. The BX. Baby !!!!

Currently the only decent parts to reside at in The Bronx is: Riverdale, Co-op City, Throggs Neck and for the most part going Uptown past Pelham Parkway on both the 2 and 5 train lines and select sections around Mosholu Parkway near the 4 train line.
