I attended a school where 98% of the students were minorities, and I was part of the 1% that was white. I faced bullying because of my race, but I never truly understood why. However, the teachers at the school supported me and treated me the same as everyone else. They understood the challenges I faced at home. I believe that race should not determine how we treat others. It's important to educate ourselves, open our minds, and learn about different perspectives before making assumptions. Continuous self-improvement and knowledge are crucial because once we lose them, we're in trouble. I believe in loving everyone, but the way I was treated at that school had a lasting impact on me. I missed school frequently, and questioned why I, a white person, had this happen. They would use racial slurs and put sticky notes on my back with offensive words. I was afraid to speak up because I didn't want to be seen as a snitch, and I knew people would retaliate if I did. It was a terrible experience, but it emphasizes the importance of recognizing our shared humanity. We are all here for a reason, and we should never belittle others based on their skin color. We need to actively combat racism and make it clear that it is unacceptable. I want to emphasize that my story represents a small percentage of people's experiences. I'm simply sharing a part of my life that I lived through. I will never fully understand what it's like to be any race other than white, but even as a white person, I have experienced racism. My experiences are valid, just like anyone else's, and they have both hurt me and helped me grow. I despise the injustices, but I'm also grateful for the lessons they've taught me. May God bless anyone going through similar challenges; we will overcome and grow together.
