Curing the E92 M3 Throttle Actuator Failure Problem

We've dealt with hundreds if not thousands of E9x M3's in our time, and generally they are pretty reliable. However one main fault we see is Throttle Actuator failure. This isn't fatal like Rod Bearing failure, however it is certainly an inconvenience especially if you're on a big trip or only use the car on the odd special occasion.
Our car falls in to that special occasion category, and as such we want to make sure when we take it out that it's not going to have the failure, stopping us from fully enjoying the car.

Fairly straight forward remove and replacement. I have about 131K mile on the clock and am not sure if this was ever done. Congrats on the purchase! Our priority would always be Rod Bearings first as that failure is fatal. Throttle Actuators can fail and they cause no damage just inconvenience.

My 2011 M3 has 110k miles - all by me - of which 15k are track miles, and the rest are hard road miles, as it is purely a fun car. Rod bearings and throttle actuator have been faultless. Both just changed at 110k miles as a precautionary measure, but inspection does not show imminent failure. How you use and maintain the car matters a lot.

Is this solely to stop limp mode or is it related to hesitation at low revs as well? Have an E90 325i experiencing these issues. Very rarely the revs falter on start up, and drop enough to cut the engine.

Hey guys - my 2011 dct m3 seemed to lose power at 3,000 rpm today.. I was pulling off in second gear and it felt like the car shunted forward and lost power for a few seconds before continuing. No engine lights or anything and seems ok right now but I am concerned - is that a sign of the throttle actuator problems? The best way I can describe it was it lunging as if I hit the redline at 3,000 rpm and the acceleration cut out abruptly before continuing.

You got robbed. Today the TVAs are only $600-700 each. They used to cost $1400 each. Labor at the BMW Dealership was 5 hours @ $200/hr. UK-Rebuilt TVAs were/are on the market for years, similar to these Evolve TVAs. They should never fail.

That's our usual advice but if going on a roadtrip (remember those?) it would be a massive shame to have them fail midway. Or in our case this car is pretty rarely used if we're honest, and when we do take it out we don't want to have them fail!

They are the same unit. If you buy it for the m3 it should go right in no problem for the m5 brother. I have a e92 m3 as well and the plug for the unit looks the same on the m5 I believe

My Dealership is currently working on my car for other issues, issues where my E92 M3 Comp pack is shutting off/blacking out randomly when driving. But they are telling me that my throttle actuators are failing and it will cost 3,500 to do the job. Talk about theft LOL. I would assume I could take my M3 to one of your shop dealers in California and they can handle this mess and at the same time be more cost efficient and have a piece of mind?

Got a E92 M3 , Rod Bearings done and 1 of the Throttle changed, car pulls great and doesn't feel like any problem, latelly i got a Battery error that it stays but after that i suddendly get the car with Engine Fault, Stability failure and Flat Tyre error, do you guys know if this is associated majorly with the battery? Because the car is smooth engine sounds great and i don't feel any downpower, just when that engine fault limp mode hits the car can't go past 4k RPM so i guess some sensor or low energy associated? These cars do suffer when the battery is in poor condition/voltage is low. I would fix the battery error first and go from there.
