@@JosephStalin-io5fp can't say much about Mumbai and Pune, but even rural suburbs of Nagpur are cosmopolitan. I did my schooling from a cbse school in Nagpur and almost everyone was from a different ethnicity. In order to explore Nagpur's cosmopolitan atmosphere, we need to go to certain locations, offcourse some inner suburbs outside the ring road are less cosmopolitan and many of those are cosmopolitan.

In pune genrally marathi population is Hugh concentrated in old city area and in areas at outskirts of city where it companies are present there is a little cosmopolitian climate to small extent compared to old city . Regarding nagpur well ur studying In cbse schools, most cbse schools in maharashtra esp in urban areas does have a sizable non marathi population . Nagpur housed capital of maratha chief raghoji raje bhosale who brought many marwari and bengali settlers to city to promote trade . Later it became capital of British central provinces hence most of government work was done here hence many hindi settlers settled here . But my claim is as per data . In nagpur 61per population does identify marathi as their mother tongue and in remaining non marathis many speak indigenous tribal languages there like gond etc.
