ive recently acquired a grassroot team U16 and they are my first team ever and this is my first ever preseason. excited but also very nervous since i want it to go well and they deserve the best type of development any tips and suggestion please. Really want to focus on their physical ability, aggression, and intensity as well as pattern of play.

Hi Gary. Love the vid. I coach women's football (amateur, age 20-30). We are scaling back from 2 to 1 mandatory session and 1 optional one per week. Would you say it is worth it to do a lot of fitness training in pre-season without the ball? Or would you always advocate high intensity session like the one you posted here?

Hi Coach, Thanks for the kind words. I think isolated fitness work is fine if you have full-time access to the players... but with limited access and only 1-2 sessions per week, I would do everything with a ball and layer in principles, and potentially shape work early in the planning. You'll get the work out of the sessions and I think it will help build some good team spirit too. Thanks again
