Non audiophile has full blown Luxman system .. aaahhahha and he rocks!!!

Absolutely love mine. The fit, the finish, the build quality, the craftsmanship just wreak of quality. Sometimes I just touch it while I'm listening. Those of you who own one know exactly what I'm talking about. Sounding great on my HiFi man HE 1000se. DAC is a Metrum Pavane L3 but Sonnet Morpheus is arriving in three days.

That's my system! :-) I have the DA-06, and the P750u mark iii, and the combo plays beautifully through both my Abyss 1266 and my Grade Rs-1.

Best wishes.. It's so beautiful and it certainly must sound as beautiful as it looks. One question. Are you eager to get new headphones too (eg. Audeze lcd 5, final d8000pro) or are completely content with what you have being a beginner in hobby with 'endgame' stuff as 1st setup? 😁

Great review and I think you nailed its sound signature. Amazing Luxman build quality. Very happy with mine and it does a pretty good job driving the demanding Abyss 1266TC.

Was never really interested in Luxman stuff until I saw a used one in Amazon for about 250,000 yen. Seems like a good price no? End game for you must truly be end game for deaf folks like me! And also I watched the Fujiya Avic interview of Luxman, and they pronounced LECUA as レキュア. Luxman Electronic Control Ultimate Attenuator or something like that. Now gotta read some reviews of the mk2...

Thanks to Currawong. Excellent review as always. I have a question. I live in Australia and the Luxman gears have really high prices and expensive in this country, moreover in Australia the electricity is 210v-220v but in Japan Luxman the voltage is 100-110v. What if I import an Luxman model and use a convert Outlet to make the voltage correctly in Australia. Do you think will it affect the sound quality of the Luxman P750u headphone amplifier?
@Currawong2 жыл бұрын
The Japanese models are 100V only, so you'd need a suitable transformer to go from 240V to 100V. Somewhere like Jaycar would sell them. As long as it is something proper (eg: 1A -- though that's overkill), and not one of those cheap travel transformers, it shouldn't affect sound quality to any significant degree.
@sonnyvarioni16542 жыл бұрын
I spent a year saving up for one of these only to have them sell out. Nice to see the DA-06 DAC as well. That came out in 2011 didn't it? Time for an updated model do you think?! Luxman do some funny things.

Nice to see the venerable Studio-Six is still able to hold it’s own quite well in the realm of upper-tier contemporary amplifiers such as the obviously superbly engineered Luxman units.

Man, it really sucks that these cool Japanese devices are 100V! I'm just buying new Topping stuff since it supports 100-240V AC power, otherwise I'd hunt for these to import to a 200V region.

Hi, the units from Japan usually have 100V AC Input. Do you use an AC-AC converter? In Europe it is even worse, because we have 230V. Are there some special quality requirements for such a converter that influence the sound quality?
@Currawong9 ай бұрын
I live in Japan. An AC converter is just a transformer. There aren't any special requirements beyond using one which can support the power usage required by the component(s). I use a large transformer for 110V components from overseas.

@@Currawong Do you still would recommend it for LCD-5? Can it extend the sound stage size compared to other amps? I am currently deciding between Luxman, Benchmark HPA4 and Violectric V550. But I don't know how I can find a decision without listening to them.
@Currawong9 ай бұрын
The amp wasn't mine, so I don't have it here to play with any more. My current favourite amp is the Schiit Mjolnir, but some system synergy probably needs to be considered. Soundstage depth and width is a whole other discussion.
@powermod67729 ай бұрын
@@Currawong Soundstage depth and width ... on what does it depend, actually? Many reviewers often report something like "this amp has more soundstage depth than that amp". I wonder if such statements could actually be measurable. There are so many factors (signal chain, the listener, the recording,...) that I wonder whether such statements can actually be trusted. Moreover, isn't the task of an amp to just amplify? I think soundstage depth can be present when the recording has it. Then the DAC has to reconstruct it properly and then the amp has to keep that information without messing it up. Or are there really amps that can extend the perceived spacial dimensionality? If so, how do they do it? Would love to see a discussion video on this :)
@aceofspades66672 жыл бұрын
Currawong... what are your thoughts on going with Luxman or Accuphase speaker amps and running high end cans (Sus/HE6/1266) from the speaker taps? We cannot get the P750 here in the states but we can get 590AXII / 570 or E-530 / E-350 quite easily.

The gain might be a bit high, but it's possible. The front headphone outputs of Luxman amps are pretty good with regular headphones last I tried too.

Some manufacturers, such as Luxman, use pin 3 as hot, and pin 2 as cold. Most use pin 2 as hot, and pin 3 as cold. The switches allow you to use equipment from either.
