It's a real credit to you travelling as simply as you do. We all know a tray, canopy, fridge etc are awesome conveniences. You're showing everyone how easy it can be. As for coffee, I reckon you can't beat a small percolator. You can buy the from Woolworths, Kmart even Bunnings. Buy your ground coffee from the supermarket and store it in an airtight container out of sunlight. You'll have espresso whenever you like.

I regards to you asking for suggestions....I have driven trucks on line-haul for many years, so maybe a fridge/cooler that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket might help as you are driving along...It always helped me to keep the water cool and fresh...🙂

as far as suggestions go ,you seem to have most things covered. i and 3 friends did 5 ten day camps every year for 21 years . frazer island , flinders and inland nsw. some of the rules or policys we had were the following. 1 we always took our drinking water took 3 four gallon plastic drums the others did as well. washing up and shower water was always river water. we had 4 fridges 4 cookers and spare bottles of gas. we always had a backup . usually 3 cars , several snatch straps, winch and tree protectors etc. drag chain and extra tow straps. we had mobile phones and a gps emergency unit. never drove at night or dusk or dawn. very risky. we went on walks but always had a person stay at camp. well aware of where the others went and how long they would be. each tent had a tarp cover which prevented leaks and added to tent security. we all cooked our own meals but each of us supplied a meal for the group on one night of the camp. we were especially careful to not camp under gum trees. in all, just basic camp practice.

I assume you guys have paved roads? Ha! I wish we had rural areas like this near me, it is awesome. I have watched a bunch of your videos, your doing a great job. I just don’t know if I could do the 20+ hour plane ride to get there, boy it would be great if I could. I don’t like the crowds, off the beaten path is for me, and this fits the bill. Just for your own safety you might want to carry more water. You can easily do this without taking up any room, by adding PVC pipe to your roof rack with a filler top and tap. Cheap, easy and very effective. Keep Travellin.

A cheap set of drawers will help you get things out of the tub, and you still have room on top of them for stuff. But good to see you’re proud of what you have and it’s refreshing to see something different to all the other super expensive set ups that are too much for most of us. Good to see someone not just jumping into the deep end of the pool wit everything all at once and instead slowly building up as they can. Giving you’re building up the hilux and have a fair idea of what you want eventually bear that in mind now and buy stuff that will suit you now and then, things like plastic boxes to hold gear in now, if you get waterproof ones then theyll sit on the back of a tray and everything stays dry. Similar with the electrics, think what you finally want and male sure what you put in now can build to that, make the wiring big enough to handle a dcdc high charge for a lithium say if you pop a vsr in now just to power a fridge but i have a feeling the electrics side might be handled when you get to Perth. People are often caught up in having everything before setting off and forget that you can do what you’re doing with just the basics and no fridge, i went from the Pilbara to Sydney in 2012 and just had a single burner the same as your double, one frying pan, two billys and a couple of plates and cup. Got a swag in perth and a fridge in Adelaide and before that i just slept in the back and used a tiny drinks cooler for food/drink chilling and i managed just fine. With you struggling with map reading it would probably be worth getting a decent offline gps, i prefer something i can use on my tablet over a standalone unit as i can use it for other things too but it would give you some peace of mind when you come to those four way junctions in the middle of nowhere 😂 You didn’t happen to be stopped at Belair NP caravan park a month or so back were you? Similar set up was a couple of sites up from me

Hi Mol, just watched a few of your vids, great to see you taking the trip stuff up. A few things you might wanna look at especially as your solo.. 1) SATPHONE...one snake bite while your out by yourself, swhtf...if you can't get help! MAKE THIS PRIORITY #1!. 2) Comms...UHF radio for local advice car to car.. 3) Download emergency apps that show,.GPS location, (co ordinates) how to do this and that in emergency, eg snake bites, car accidents, etc etc.. Listen, one can go on forever...if you need any PROPER.advice from someone with actual experience coming from a certain type background, hit me up as advice is free 😊 Frank.
