Another argument lebron fans like to use is he never beat Larry Bird. Well, before Jordan was drafted, he was on the Team USA with Pat Ewing. They played 8 exhibition games against the NBA Allstars which included Isaiah Thomas, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Jordan destroyed the NBA Allstars for 4 games. Then the coach got upset and stacked the team against MJ. He went on to destroy them for the remaining 4 games. The NBA Allstars lost 8 straight games against Jordan!

And they forget to mention that the Celtics were, according to them, a SUPERTEAM. Yes, LeBron fans called the Celtics a superteam to take the heat off of LeBron forming his own. It’s just a tactic to promote and uplift lebron. Also I want to point out , Lebrons teammates have a combined record of over 120 allstar selections , MJ teammates had a combined 10 allstar selections . Notice how DeRozan actually dissected his game and discussed the many ways he was still able to be formidable without his elite athleticism in a much tougher defensive NBA. MJ was also suffering multiple injuries in the Wizards years. Even Artest said that summer before he looked like the MJ from that last Finals. All Lebron has it what he always has, just being able to push guys out of the way.

I'm a private basketball coach coaching mainly 15-18 boys/men. I never give in to their new style of play, which is dribble dribble dribble, step back (sometimes travel) to get a bucket, I show them how to play smart and save your energy but making the game simple, cut that unnecessary dribbles instead create space by hard drive and pull up, same results. I always appreciate MJ's game, the simplicity while maximizing the efficiency is incredible. I have been telling my friends and students the Wizard MJ can teach us all a lot because he was fundamentally sounded compared to his Bulls days but still killing it.

Goats play defense overall but also on the other teams best player if necessary, they don’t disappear in the 4th when the team needs them and they can win games at the free throw line with the game in the line. Jordan played in an era with actual rim protectors that prided themselves on protecting the paint. You’re not driving into the paint and not getting knocked on your a** in the 90’s. Hard fouls in the 90’s are flagrant 2 fouls in today’s game.

I would actually lean more to the beter spacing now and it's easier to get in to the lane, there's things like 14 second reset on the shotclock adding extra possessions now. MJ had injuries and the fact he had just taken 3 full seasons off (which is incredible btw) are all bigger factors

Jordan was averaging 25.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on the season before he tore his meniscus. He was also shaking off the rust after not playing in the league for 3 years and his stats improved as the season went along until the injury. The two months before the injury he was averaging in the UPPER 20s in points per game. The Wizards, as a team, were showing steady improvement as the season progressed as well, despite lacking the overall talent of other teams. They were actually the 5th seed in the East, only 6 games back of the top seed at the time of the injury. MJ's Wizards years were actually better than a lot of people think.

Remember the talk around Kobe possibly going to Germany to get a treatment…lebron gets to use those therapies at will. His tendinitis and arthritis would have been an afterthought.

Jordan was playing on the Wizards to get those players to understand what kind of work they needed to do to get better. He was not playing for stats, he was not playing to add a championship. And that is what he was able to produce just from leading by example.

LePED is also able to keep some spring late into his career because 1) His extensive use of PEDs allows faster recovery and thus more work to stay fit and 2)He took it easy on D for most of his career as opposed to MJ.

I acknowledge MJ as the GOAT. Kobe is the best player I've seen play and Steph Curry is my favorite player ever, but I understand MJ is the pinnacle. The same way, Ali is the GOAT boxer but there are also other boxers who are dominant and arguably better in certain areas, like Floyd (eh) or Tyson...but Ali is still the pinnacle. Either you are the goat or you arent, if you gonna fight and cry your way to the top then you cannot be the goat...looking at you LeBALCO

2011 broke Lebron's ego. He had to do serious off season banana boat and Diddy party ego rehab to win the next 2 titles, while I had to go back to my boring life. Once in a while he thrives on adversity. Occasionally he does great things. How many yards will he rush for this season with his son in the backfield next to him? It's a modern day Disney movie come to life.😢

One thing people keep leaving out of this argument is how much pain Jordan was in during the Wizard years, and the unfair advantage that Lebron has had in the legerity argument due to how much sports medicine has advanced in the last 30 years. To compare his Wizard years to Lebron & the shape he's in now, is just like giving someone a head start in a race & acting like they didn't have one. Straight lying.

Michael Jordan had a greater career when taking into account his and LeBron’s first 9 seasons in the league prior to Jordan’s retirement. He won more scoring titles, championships, and defensive accolades than Lebron has, and put up numbers that will never be repeated on both ends of the floor. Lebron won title #1 on year 9. Jordan had 3 by that time. Lebron was great, but obviously not better than Jordan.

All LeBron stans have is his longevity, he's been in the league so damn long of course he's going to have more of everything. There are a bunch of players who have more career total stats than Jordan, nobody is stupid enough to consider them better because of it. They hold onto this longevity argument because it's all they have, they have nothing else. "But what he is doing at his age is unprecedented!" LeBron just finished his age 38/39 season. That is the same season Jordan came back to play for the Wizards, there was less than two months between them in age difference. MJ had not played professional basketball in three damn years, had broken ribs thanks to Ron Artest and had bum knees that required constant injections. But did that stop him? He had his first 30pt game in his _second_ game back. It took him less than ten games to register his first 40 point game. He became the oldest player in NBA history to register a 50 point game & then followed that game with 45 points. A few weeks later he again had back to back 40 point games. His bum knee limited him physically to the point he could barely drive to the hoop & had to rely almost exclusively on mid range jump shots. He still shot 41.3% on midrange shots. LeBron this past season shot 32.7% from midrange. For all players who took at least 2 midrange shots per game, that ranks DEAD LAST in the entire league. The following season, aged 39/40, MJ would improve that number to 43.3%, ranking him 32nd in the league, again for all players taking at least 2 shots per game from that range. Expand that to five shots and he ranks 15th. Expand it to ten shots and he ranks #1. The only players on that particular list were Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Allan Iverson & Chris Webber. Pretty damned esteemed company. Jordan ranked above every one of them when it came to mid range shooting. _At forty years of age_ which is exactly where he ranked the previous season for all players taking ten or more midrange shots. He was the best midrange volume shooter in the NBA as a Wizard. Because he was pretty much forced into that role due to his injuries. Back to that first Wizards season, Jordan had his scoring average above 25ppg before his knee finally gave out & pretty much ended his season. He had the Wizards in the #5 spot in the East. They plummeted down the rankings after that & MJ would come back for a few games towards the end of the season but his knees were just shot. In the end he averaged 23ppg. He did that on a team averaging 92ppg at a pace of 88. Normalised to a pace of 100 and a team score of 100, MJ scored 28.4ppg. LeBron averaged 25ppg this season on a team averaging 117ppg at a pace of 101. His normalised scoring was 21.1ppg. Reality check Bron stans 😆 Purely as far as scoring goes, what MJ was able to produce, despite all his obstacles & despite the snails pace the league played under that era (mainly because players were actually _allowed_ to play defense) is clearly better than LeBron, and MJ didn't have a teammate anywhere near the caliber of AD who led LeBron in a bunch of advanced stats this season. MJ led his team in more than what LeBron led his. Now are you really going to call LeBron's achievements unprecedented? Jordan was doing unprecedented things himself at that age. Both were amazing for players pushing 40. Again, it's just abundantly clear that most LeBron truthers have no idea what Jordan achieved & if they didn't have any kind of cultural or generational bias they would see that Jordan was very clearly the greater player.
