I want to trigger a relay depending on direction of flow of power in an AC line. How would you do that? CT with diodes ,resistors, ICS.. what would a practical circuit look like ?

Awesome video. Can you explain a little further why we "short out" a Current Transformer ? I don't think I've fully understand it properly. Is it for safety purposes? What are the factors at play here .

I did some experiments with open CT's but nothing happened. No temp or voltage raise.
