Excellent video; I'm sharing with my Neurologist in the UK as you hit the nail on the head about what our priorities are vs the clinical avoidance of crisis

Mental health is the one part of the gMG equation that most doctors (including neurologists) don't want to touch! I've found that when I have extreme difficulty swallowing that a low dose Xanax (.25mg) takes away the panic of not being able to swallow just enough to make it manageable and keep me out of the ER. Asking for a refill for that prescription is like asking for their first born. The first thing that pops into their heads is addiction. When it should be how does this help my patient. Thankfully, that doesn't happen often, but when it does, I'd rather have it than need it and NOT have it! I use approximately 30 every 6-months...I'd suck as an addict!

No need to be knocked out for a filling, yes it's uncomfortable with out being knocked out but doable.i have never been knocked out for any dentistry treatment and had MG for almost 30 years.

I've been knocked out when I had to have my teeth removed for dentures. After the experience they had when they tried to take my wisdom teeth out with me awake - they were not going to come anywhere near my mouth with me awake. Regular dental care and fillings would cause horrific panic attacks - but I could get through it. Tooth removal - different story. As with everything with MG - everyone is different. Just because you have never had to be knocked out doesn't mean it's true for everyone.

I had an impacted (and broken) wisdom tooth extracted last October. She (the dental surgeon) had to cut it out. I had my mouth propped open for 15+ minutes and breathing became an issue a couple of times (soft palate collapse) because of how much pressure she was exerting on my jaw. I was in there 5 more times over the next 2-weeks. They had to keep repacking the socket to keep the bone from being exposed. Good times!
