Thank you, this was really encouraging! I dropped out of nursing a few years ago as I didn't believe in myself due to not having a good experience on placements and not doing well at uni but planning to go back and finish it.

Hi there! You just can't imagine how many people in real life doubt themselves when it comes to nursing studies! The load is very hard and not many can pull it off. When I started Diploma of enrolled nursing, from nearly 170 students we had 47 left in semester 3. You are actually braver than you think for planning to go back and give it another chance! I wish you all the best, you got it! 💪

Hi Yana, I came across your video when I was preparing myself for RN interview. You are an inspiration and both the hospital and aged care you work are so lucky to have you as RN :) I am also still on waitlist for MNH RBH, not sure how long until they contact me, most of my friend have heard from them at least they got their starting date already so I am working at aged care at the moment. A lot of people think that as aged care nurse, we will lose our skills/ not much to learn but I don't agree with these misconceptions. I am still planning to keep my job at aged care if MNH ever calls me. If still no news at least I will have some RN experience and I can always apply casual pool at hospital :)

Ah thank you Kandy! I`m glad my experience can inspire others :) I think you`re doing the right thing by keeping your experience going at aged care while still waiting for the offer from RBH. And yes I also agree with you 100% that aged care nurses do not loose much of their skills by working in this field. Not many know that we actually gaining more experience in time management, multitasking and prioritising while leading a team of EN`s and AINs working under our supervision every single shift! Yes, it is not as clinical as it gets in the hospital, but still very valuable experience that you will take with you to QLD Health once employed. P.S. I did`t hear from QLD Health for nearly 3 months after I knew that I was excepted into a grad program, while most of my friends have got their offer dates. It was very frustrating as well cause I was slowly loosing hope. But I guess everything has its time. I`m glad that mine worked exactly as it did. Cause 3 months at aged care gave me more confidence when I stood on the hospital floor :) So I wish you all the best dear :) You`ve got this!

Hi Yana, last week I got an offer from MNH (not from RBH but the relatively new hospital called stars, which is better I think coz everything will be new and they use iEMR). I'm so excited, I will start end of this month! It's 6mth rehab and 6 mth surgical. I'll definitely learn a lot! I'll be still working as casual at aged care. Any tips for me before I start? 😊 Have a funtastic time in Bali! You deserve a lovely break 🥰

Hi Yana! Thank you for your videos about nursing! I’m also looking for opportunity to change career. Your videos about your way to become RN are really helpful! Could you please make a video about differences between EN and RN at work place like you did about differences in study path? Maybe more on duties, responsibilities, positions you can apply with diploma or degree, career opportunities. It seems similar but difference in length of study is almost 2 years. Also why did you choose to do TAFE firs and Uni after? Thank you very much!

I did Tafe first cause I was late to enrol into uni due to my english test. But with Tafe I just went face to face and tried my luck, and I was excepted as they had few more spots available for that semester.

Hi Yana, Came across your channel when I was searching for nursing experiences based in Australia. Your videos have been really helpful and reassuring as someone who has recently graduated with an EN diploma. For your aged care interviews that you shared at the beginning of your video, what kind of questions did they ask you and how was the interview process as a newly graduated nurse?
@yana.miller

Hi, I'm glad my videos have been useful for you! It's a big question to cover in a comment. I might film a video about it. Because interview process is long and they ask many different types of questions plus few tests.

So proud of you! This is great! Is this orientation specific for Grad RN Position or do you think it'll be the same type of orientation for an RN position? Im still doing my diploma and wondering if I should go into the EN Grad program in my local hospital also near where you are, or just jump into RNs.
@yana.miller
@yana.miller 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) I think for just an RN position you will have some sort of orientation too + buddy shifts. But I`m not sure if there will be any training involved as it was with me for Grad position at RBWH. It depends what your final goal is. If you want to become an RN faster, then probably just continue to bachelor after finishing diploma. And if you are not sure or thinking of taking a break, then maybe applying for EN Grad program will worth it. get your foot into the industry, work for a while and then complete bachelor later.

Hey! Loving your videos. Do you think having completed your diploma and working as an EN gave you an advantage to be successful in getting a Grad Position at the hospital? My understanding is they are very competitive. Congrats you have done so well!
@yana.miller

Hi, thank you and you're welcome 😊 no, I would say my diploma of EN had nothing to do with my grad position application. They look at your application itself and how you performed on interview, tests and video presentation. Everyone get equal opportunities with Qld health.

Hi Yana can please do a video about midwifery and diploma of nursing ? I want to study nursing as now it is free at Tafe but sometimes I am thinking about becoming a midwife as well.

Hi Parwana! I don't know much about midwifery as I have never studied that one before. But for diploma of nursing I have lots of videos in my nursing video playlist 🙂 feel free to browse through them and if you'll still have any questions, plz leave them in the comments under the videos.
