I love the idea of strahd showing up at the funeral of Ismark and Ireenas fathers funeral. I love the dialogue and description the dm used. Do you think you can share the notes related to this encounter?
@davidhobson28073 жыл бұрын
Since I saw this video I have used this idea in my own CoS campaigns.
@RgTripleC5 жыл бұрын
The DM is very patient. He subtly tries to tell them their ideas will not advance the adventure. Like when they wanted info on the mage and rebellion and to question mad Mary and the crone. The DM just wanted them to leave town and start that bit of the campaign, but they spent 10 minutes fighting his obvious attempts to dissuade them. Then he tries for 10 minutes to get them to go see Madame Ava.
@MrFrikkenfrakken4 жыл бұрын
Oh how common this is, the PCs want to explore every bit of minutiae except for the actual adventure path itself. I had always a couple of index cards prepared with 'anytime encounters' for this type of exploring, generally a bit beyond the capabilities of the party but not going to result in a TPK. Either that or the party would find bloody rags and see a discernible set of tracks leading out of town the way they 'needed' to head. Strahd's wolves are good candidates for the tracks, gets the party far enough away to make it a waste to return to Barovia.

I personally don’t like this kind of steering. The players should be able to look into things. And the fact that they keep mentioning the sobbing lady makes players think she is important.
@mitchellslate12493 ай бұрын
I agree with not steering things for the players. But it is a strange situation where you have characters moving on and players wanting to stay and explore. Once the train started stopping every five seconds is not sensible to the characters. But the players don't think that way. Honestly saying the characters might move on without the players is fair, as events unfold when the players abandon events for other ones. But burying the need to investigate the crying woman or plainly say she doesn't matter I would stop short there for immersion and realism, though the character might yes say she is worthlessly mad and maybe reveal a little if they badly want the help of adventurers

skipping the Death House and having characters start at level 3 has given the party an unwelcome/unearned confidence in their ability to overcome adversity with strength of arms; 2 players short and 'lets brawl with the castle demon' this seems incongruent with the horror theme which kind of began & ended with the gate that closed itself on the road oooh spoopy
