Love these types of minimal component games, both as a player and as a designer. New sub!

Link to the Crowd Sale here: www.thegamecrafter.com/crowdsale/cursed- Excuse the bad math, I record these at 2 am when the family is asleep. Thankfully I catch it. I should have also just taken the 2 damage on the last monster instead of pushing my luck and drawing more cards to capture him for the 9 souls! Thankfully I had a great start to the game and still managed to get the 8.

Love the game but have a two questions: 1. For the stone if you go over the monster's hp do you not take damage, take dmg equal to the over, or just can’t play the stone? 2. How many items are you allowed to have at a time?

Any hints to additional content in the future? This seems like a good addition to my desk. Quick, simple, but enjoyable!

Hey thanks for the interest, a desk game is the perfect summary of what I wanted to achieve with this game. I've had it on my table and play it nearly every day - waiting for food to cook, waiting after letting the dog out to let him back in, relaxing at the end of the day but not wanting a 30 min to hour session of some other game, etc. As far as more content I've got some ideas that I may revisit down the line but I'm working on some other designs that came to me during development of this game. If I do crowd sales for my future games I'll be sure to include it in the add-on section

Game arrived today. Great little game. Plan to take this with me on two different cross country flights in September. Perfect game to play on a small table.

Happy to hear it! Quick, easy and little table space were some of my main thoughts when designing it. Thanks for giving a new designer a chance!

@GoblinHourGames could you clarify how "soul crystal" works? I played it how I think it plays but am not sure I had it right.
@GoblinHourGames
@GoblinHourGames Жыл бұрын
@@whoknows4965 Yeah so the soul crystal lets you capture the monsters soul and take no extra damage if you play over its power. So say you draw a weapon and it puts you over, instead of losing the weapon and then having to decide weather to keep drawing or stop and take damages you can just use the crystal and capture it anyhow. Hope that made sense, I'm sure there is a better way to explain it. The ideal use case would be if you were say 3 or 4 power under and drew a 5 weapon, you could just use the crystal and capture it instead of losing the overdraw and drawing more or taking the damage potentially saving you up to 4 or 5 cards.

@GoblinHourGames That is what I was thinking! I figured it was a safety net of sorts. Appreciate the reply.

I love this game. The only thing I don't understand is the soul crystal item. If you attack over a monsters power you take no additional damage. Does that mean if I pull over on the 2nd+ card I can use this and capture it?

For the stone if you go over do you not take damage, take dmg equal to the over, or just can’t play the stone?

So overkill, or extra damage, how does that effect where the discard goes? Does damage have to be equal or lesser value of the creatures health?

Hey Blunderbutt, I didn't get into the nitty gritty rules with this play through and its explained better in the rule book (you can download them for free if you wanted from the store page) but to answer your question: You want to capture the soul and doing extra damage would instead destroy and kill the monster outright. So yes you are trying to get as close to their power level as possible to take little to no damage. Any weapon you pick up that would overkill the monster is destroyed and discarded instead burning through your remaining cards quicker. The main game play hook is do you push your luck and draw a weapon to hopefully get the remaining damage you need to take no damage or play it safe and take the 2-3 damage your sitting at instead. You also factor in your items which can save you a bunch of weapon draws or some allow you to capture if you go over anyways without taking extra damage, etc. There is an element of card counting in that you may use a bunch of 2 and 3 weapons early and so you know later you are less likely to pull then and may decide to play it safe or use an item, etc. lastly if you play a weapon and item combo that makes your initial weapon strike hit over the monsters power the soul is still captured. this is only for the initial weapon draw you pull out. This lets you not be punished for drawing over on the first card for a few monsters that have real low power, but also allows you to use an item to boost your attack so high that you can capture one with a single weapon/item combo for the higher powered ones if you wish. Anyhow hope that answers your question, after a ton of play testing the 8 souls was the best number to ensure that if you play too safe the whole game or push your luck too much you wouldn't win every time. The most I've captured was 10 and it was a nearly flawless and extremely lucky run.
