Curtin Artificial Reef - Diving with Giant Grouper

A memorable dive with a number of very large Giant Grouper or Queensland Grouper as they are known in Australia. It may be hard for you to determine the exact size looking at the footage, but I can assure you, two of the grouper I filmed were longer than me so estimate 2 metres plus in the 2-300 kilogram range. Being in a confined space inside the wreck with one of them and only one way out had me more than a little nervous. I was careful not to corner him as a whack from the tail of one of these guys could have caused all sorts of problems. You will see the power of these fish when you see the fisrt one on the video take off at the end. Amazing creatures, hope you enjoy.
