Man, I love Curtis Armstrong. He and Bobcat Goldthwait are my nerd childhood icons (along with a few others of course). Loved him on Moonlighting (I'm old enough to have been able to watch it when it aired heh) as well.

I loved his cameo in 1989's "How I Got Into College" as the recruiter from Arcadia Bible College. But Booger is my favorite of his roles.

I am currently reading this book and I loath the task of reading but thank you Curtis Armstrong for captivating me to read and finally understand my son.

I got the audiobook on Audible, and I've found myself listening to it over and over. It's interesting to see the twists and turns of his career, despite his cult success with Better Off Dead and Revenge of the Nerds. If you read his IMDB page, you see him listed in roles that were often nameless like "Homeless Guy", or "Random Shopper." He even guest-starred in an episode of ICarly as a store owner suspected of making pirated DVDs that Carly and her friends try to catch in the act. (If you know the episode, you will see the punchline to the fact that he is making "pirated" movies.) My favorite part of the book, apart from the Nerds/Moonlighting/Better Off Dead parts is when he talks about when, while guest-starring on Grounded for Life, he was talking with one of the stars, who idolized him, and he was feeling disillusioned about where he was as an actor, and the other actor gently reminded him that a lot of guys would kill to have a career like his. Curtis said that he honestly at that point never considered that what he was doing was a career. On the flip side of the kind of nameless one-day acting jobs he was getting at the time was the fact that he had a consistent career of steady employment as an actor, a profession where people are chewed up and spit out.

i bought the book with an Amazon gift card, so it didn't cost me anything. one who's a Curtis Armstrong fan will like it. it's like a longer version of this interview; straightforward and literal, a bit bland but OK. if it was food, you'd say it needs a bit more salt or hot sauce.

I thought it was super well-written and pretty funny too. His reflections on what being a nerd means and how that has evolved was definitely my favorite part. If you're interested in his career or any of his most defining roles, I'd definitely recommend it.
