Great video Curtis! Like you said, there's levels to this business. Not every light needs to be at the price point for everyone, this light is aimed at Hollywood level lighting or much higher end professional lighting situations. This light is designed to cover a wide space that most LED panels can't cover at the quality and/nor output of this light. As you said this light will be for professional gaffers, rental houses and very select indie film makers that work in large shooting scenarios whose clients can budget for equipment such as this light.

Hey Curtis, thanks for the great overview! Could you please tell me what the output of the P600C without the front diffusion is? It would be interessting to know, how the light output compairs to a 600D vs a Nova 600C through a booklight or something similar.
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Without the diffusion panel, it registered 18,700 lux at 1 meter at 5500K, so about an additional 1000 lux.

Hahaha! Yes, but the color quality even on the little F7 is great!
@ATTACKofthe6STRINGS2 жыл бұрын
@@curtisjudd I honestly wouldn't trade them in for anything, though I've been tempted. Good color quality, convenient form factor, decent output, for a good price. If you haven't, you should honestly try slapping a 10,500 mAh NPF battery in the back. You can run the light at full power for hourS, and barely use any juice. I had one before. BH had a sale where I snatched up 2 more, then bought enough 10,500 NPF batteries so each light could have one, and I have one left over for my Atomos Ninja V. 3 point light setup that can last multiple hours, is usable around golden hour/night, and fits in the top compartment of most medium sized camera bags. Honestly, while I recognizes alternatives exist, I have yet to find any with as specifically convenient a combination of features as the F7. Even something like Lupo's Smart Panel is *just* big enough where I couldn't toss 3 of them in my bag.

I know this video is about a light, but I was wondering if you could answer an audio-related question. I have a Shure SM58 which, like a lot of dynamic mics, has a weak signal. So when I plug it into my Zoom H4N, I have to max out the gain to almost 100 so that my levels reach around -6 dB. This, of course, adds noise to the recording as H4N doesn't have the cleanest-sounding preamps at max gain setting. Now my question is: Could using something like a Cloudlifter be beneficial? I've heard people use it to boost weak signal. Or would it introduce extra noise all the same, and the only way around this is to buy something with cleaner pre-amps?
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a cloudlifter or a Fethead could be very helpful.

@aebonstudio71932 жыл бұрын
The Nanlux panels are HEAVY. The weight makes them less interesting, but they are used on union shoots.
@DrL33productions2 жыл бұрын
@@aebonstudio7193 they aren't that much heavier then the sky panel, they are also build like a tank and very easy to use they also put out a bit more lights then the sky panel and the P600c. The sky panel does send the light farther due to the led beam angle.
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I’d like to try the Nanlux.
@jlimproductions94112 жыл бұрын
Let’s start by the 4 individual light engines - it makes for more realistic lighting FX (just check out Fire), allows for lighting chases/fades/gradients which allows it to be used in AR/VR situations where lights can be programmed via 3rd party programs like Madmapper (think Unreal Engine applications). The 4-light engines mean split up 4x150w LED which allows for better dimming to 0.1% as opposed to a 600w bloc (think 0.1% on a 150w and 0.1% on a 600w) less tendency for colour shift, lower fan noise etc. This is really just scratching the surface of the P600c and its potential over the next few years. And hi Curtis!

With a powerful light like this one, and if one is working remotely outdoors, would it make sense (or is it even feasible) to use a power station? I mean something like the Jackery Explorer 1500. I want to say it would run this light for two hours, but I am so ignorant on this topic - still learning as always! - Dave
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if it can supply 15 amps current, yes.
@__m__e__2 жыл бұрын
15 amps at 48 volts dc! Looks like theoretically the Jackery has enough AC wattage, but you’d be converting dc to AC to dc in the process. Something like the 300d lights can operate on high current but less exotic batteries.

No offence but your lighting setup was a little distracting for what is basically a product review. If you did use the Aputure P600C for that, I'm definitely not impressed. I follow about 3 dozen KZbinrs for sports and technology related and many of them have nicer results ( for the talking head part ) So definitely don't think KZbinrs would not need this kind of light, these days KZbinrs with half a million or more subscribers are using cinematography style setups. Not really "cinematic" of course, but professionally presented videos, like what you see on a TV cooking show. That said, I'm sure this light is right up there with the Arri Skypanel and I look forward to using it someday.
