2007 Freightliner Detroit 60 14L rebuild UPDATE AFTER 1 YEAR!!

this is a update to my back yard rebuild after over a year of running it

Great job. I'm about to buy a bus with an S60 in it. I know it will need a rebuild at some point. I watched videos of other truckers who were afraid to do their in frames and instead bought rebuilts and both had trouble with them. Thanks for making these videos.

LOL. yea Im having DEEP thoughts about just going ahead and deleting it. that way i wont even have that turbo on it and just do away with that stuff. its really a head ache when it starts with the problems. especially when the turbo is flucuating and i've changed all parts the go to it and on top of that its not throwing any codes.

thanks for the video, rebuilding it and after, ive been waiting, your a great inspiration, im fixing to do mine soon, in my back yard, sanford nc, waiting on a manual, did you pertrusion on your liners check out ok or did you have to have any machine work done also did you get a remanufactured head or take it to a machine shop?

The protrusion was good to go. However, there were some very small pitting in the counter bores on cylinder 4 and 5 the worse. I cleaned and cleaned until all 6 were shiny using 1000 grit sandpaper and wd40. I took my head to a machine shop. Stone truck center in Florence, sc. He charged me $1650 for the head work. That's also where I bought my mcbee kit from. He could have rebuilt my engine but I could not afford it at the time. He wanted $14k for a rebuild or $17.5k with new turbo and injectors.

yes it was. by myself as well. took me 25 days of reading the manual, understanding it then applying it. i've never done anything like that before. after nearly $8k out of pocket you could imagine the feeling in the pit of my stomach as i was trying to get it started. when it first started it was coughing and spitting and acting up. it was the most epic moment in my entire life! lol

i'm still trucking. i havent even opened up the valve cover since i closed it. i got so lucky. lol. nothing has changed. i still drive it every work day.

I have a 14L Egr my oil looking a little milky but no oil in coolant what could it be?

it could be a few things like your head or even your water pump. when its mixing like that the best thing to do is drain the oil and drop the oil pan and put a pressure test on the coolant tank. it'll show you where its leaking from
